John Edwards on HSN?

So I was watching the Larry King interview with the Psychic Kids (A&E) cast.
John Edwards was also on the panel.

At the end of the show, I believe Larry King announced that Edwards would be on the Home Shopping Network on July 25th?

Did I hear this right, and does this non sequitur make sense to anyone?

Maybe he can be a celebrity spokesman for feminine products and put his "Biggest Douche in the Universe" title to good use.

To be honest I think John Edward could be the ultimate contraception. Watch maybe an hour of him (depending on personal stamina ) and the "sorry not tonight I've got an headache" phrase will become redundant. In fact your partner will ban you from ever watching him again!

On a more serious note, I concentrate on what he does mediumship wise that much that I forget about all the sidelines, candles and books, etc. These commodities must make a small fortune on their own.

Interesting - I didn't know he had moved into merchandising, but from a revenue stream perspective, it's a smart movie to leverage his brand that way.

Does he also do readings on the show?

They all seem to start with their books and I know a lot of the famous mediums have several merchandise avenues to go down. Look at SB, she's sold jewellery. There's a lot more than meets the eye with these psychics. Hindering them from appearing on TV, etc, doesn't necessarily cut down their income drastically. They make sure their cut in the shopping side of it helps them fatten their bank accounts too.

And don't forget John's sappily titled book, "What if God Were the Sun?"
I wonder how good it really is or if only his die-hard fans bought it.

Yes Denver, you (unfortunately?) heard correctly.

Quote from the Larry King Live: Psychic Kids segment, which aired on Thursday, 10 July 2008.

Larry King: …John Edward, you can get him on HSN Home Shopping on July 25th, and in Vegas at the Flamingo, July 12th.

Char Margolis: And watch his WE show.

I believe Char means: www.wetv.com/

I wonder why Sylvia Browne does not pitch her junk on HSN. Anyone know? It would seem the perfect venue...she can sit on a couch, talk to a few screened callers, and just babble away.

or the "John Edward 'I already know' Home Pregnancy Test."

Inside is a coin with "yes" on one side and "no" on the other.

For an extra US$50 you get the other coin with "boy" on one side and "girl" on the other.

Strangely, while it is not nescessary, people still piss on it.

I have important friends in spooky places

I continue to be confused about those who claim to have connections with 'the other side', and need to appear on the tube, and hawk their cheesy wares, to make money. Isn't there some way their friends on the other side can help them get wealthy, or is there a 'Ghost Code of Ethics'?

Yes, I'm just kidding.

I realize that this stuff is pretty laughable, but the desperate schmucks who buy into it, and the criminals who flog it, fuel my growing sadness about the social and emotional devolution of our society.

Happy Birthday to ME!

Just been to the Great Fake's website, his management don't seem to take kindly to anybody analysing what he is doing:

"We are sorry, there is no audio recording, video recording or photography allowed at any of John's events.
If you bring a camera or recording device it will be taken away from you or dismantled and the film, memory cards video tapes or audio tapes will be taken. Digital recorders cannot be dismantled so they will be taken."

ohhh...happy bday.

I have friends that make thier living via ShopNBC.

They HATE John Edward even though they are shameless in hawking their jewelry and it's healing powers. (they really believe that different stones give you different energies, they are honestly deluded and their stuff is very beautiful which is why people really buy it). They just throw in the occasional "and quartz has great healing powers also"...

I told them about this and they said it's too bad he isn't on ShopNBC where they have a little pull (they are BIG sellers)....they really wonder at what his sales numbers are. They said if they peek at when he is on and how often it says a lot about his success...

I can't think he has that big an appeal for his crap...

I understand your point and agree.

However, that policy is true for most live non-sporting events.

His show on WE is hilarious. I've read in several places that his tapings are a lot longer than the actual show, and so it's edited down to the more successful parts. Watching the show, it's hard to imagine how some parts could be any less accurate.

One I remember, he asked a whole crowd of several hundred people "Who had someone die from a car bomb? I'm seeing a car bomb. An explosion, with a car...". I think I fell asleep, anyway, 45 seconds later, he was down to "car accident", when some woman jumped up excitedly and knew who he was "communicating" with, as he had died in a head-on car accident. Edward asked if the impact could possibly have caused an explosion, which she didn't think happened. He quickly changed it to "a loud noise like an explosion" when the cars hit... as if any head on collision that causes a death wouldn't be loud.

Exactly why i highlighted the point about their reluctance to allow recording.
Agreed, these restrictions are widespread, usually to prevent distribution of home-made recordings of, say, a concert. It just so happens that this norm also protects Edwards from having the unedited dross in his shows being broadcast.
