Billy Mier

I need the latest info on this guy. I thought he was just totally a joke, but I guess he's still pretty big in Europe? All the US info I get on him is that his photographs are a joke.

Any help welcome as I'm answering a question about him.

I feel almost like I got a quesion abuot Adamski or something!

thanks

Contact Robert Sheaffer for the best info on debunking Billy Mier. From what I remember, Mier used models suspended from fishing poles to take his "famous" pictures. One model resembled a poultry brooder. Mier was a poultry farmer. Of course, Mier's out was he only had one arm, so how could he do all this? People overlooked the fact he could run a farm, chop wood, etc., very well with only one arm.

He's not someone I've heard of before, but the spelling seems to be Meier rather than Mier, in case that helps with searching for more info.

This may or may not help. He has been a subject on "The Paracast" for some time and here is a thread over there that may help you out a little. Or at least be a little entertaining.

Notes on some of his photographs.

Both this and the main article on Meier show debunkings and the claims of Meier's defenders.

This makes note of the Dean Martin Show-related hoax picture. That's right, Meier tried to pass off a picture of someone on the show off as that of an alien!

Koreans vs. a Billy Meier movie. Notice how his supporters react in the comments section.

These people debunked some Meier stuff, but they fell hard for some obvious fakes (and, to be fair, even admit to it).

Making a Meier-style spaceship.

I feel that these links destroy Meier's other "evidence."

This segment from a Youtube upload of "The World's Greatest Hoaxes" includes a look at some of Billy Meier's hoaxes. This video continues the examination of Meiers (Amazingly, supporters of his photos claim that his ex wife is lying to spite him rather than listening to a source close to him).

AtomicMysterMonster, yep. Pretty well debunked. Meier and Horn are nothing more than a joke.

Didn't he claim to have gone back in time and photographed dinosaurs?

Yep. I think one of the links I posted even shows the children's book he used for the dinosaur pictures.

Thank you so much!

there is some new tv movie in Europe about him and I'm getting a lot of questions about hiim. I thought he had been totally debunked, even by the rest of the UFO community a long time ago.

But maybe it was a slow day at that European tv movie making facility or something.

More Meier madness!

Over in another thread, someone posted a link to an article claiming that skeptics have "thrown in the towel" over Meier's stuff.

This is a load of crap, as the links in this thread clearly provide the things that article claims no skeptic has been able to reproduce. I also noticed that the source provided for the article you linked to comes from a website called http://theyfly.com. When I plugged that URL into Google, I got the following description:

Quote:
"They Fly is the official site of Michael Horn, Billy Meier's authorized American media representative and features Meier's UFO photos, films, video,..."
Oh yeah, no bias there. Riiiiiiiight...

I also found a Youtube channel devoted to recreating his videos, a Flickr channel connected to the previous link, and what seems to be the start of a series of Youtube videos debunking Meier.

Isn't this the guy who wants to "debate" skeptics of his particular UFO woo and then says that if they won't give him time on their shows (to express his particular brand of crap) that it proves that they actually agree with what he is saying (the old "silence implies agreement" crap).

I'm afraid I don't know. Does the guy you're thinking of only have one arm and runs a cult? If so, it's defintiely Meier.

Billy Meier vs. Randi

According to this, which dates back to February 2005,
Quote:
Meier’s case was just authenticated when the top international professional skeptics at CFI-West failed, after four years of trying, to duplicate even one of his hundreds of stunningly clear, daylight photos and films of UFOs (or any of the other physical evidence), prompting noted professional skeptic and magician, James Randi, to withdraw his claim that the case, ongoing for 63 years, is a hoax.
This sounds to me like a fabrication from whole cloth. True, or not?

If there is no one able to duplicate "stunningly clear... photos... of UFOs" such as this --

(blue screen double exposure; ya think?) -- I will eat every one of the trees in this stunningly clear photo.

Billy Meier vs. Randi II

Hmm, I think I was unclear. Actually, I was more interested in the truth or otherwise of the claim that “noted professional skeptic and magician, James Randi, [felt obliged] to withdraw his claim that the case, ongoing for 63 years, is a hoax.” Then again, if the photos could be duplicated, as they evidently can, the remainder of the claim also falls flat like a faux UFO.

Thought so, thanks.
