Evolutionary History of Magic Tricks
I'm interested in learning how the field of magic developed, and was wondering if anyone knows of any good books or websites that explore this subject.
Things like how has the equipment and techniques of a particular trick evolved over time? For instance, who invented the use of body casts, and in which ways were they first used? |

Ultra-cool question. I do hope someone somewhere has made some sort of such evolutionary history, it would be really good.

Let's start with the trap-door spider and regress from there.
