The Prestige

Has anyone else seen this movie? I loved it! I thought it was a great look into the inner thoughts behind performance Magic.
What are your ideas?

Is that you, Slim? If so, welcome (welcome back, actually).

I've seen it and like it a lot, though I have never heard the term "The Prestige" until I read the book. My son ranks this movie and the book from which it is made as among his all time favorites. I don't go quite that far, though.

Prestige! I was not aware of the term in that respect either. Too highbrow for me I guess. I can't read much but I did see the movie. I wonder if it is out in an audio book. I'll check.
The movie really made me think about many different aspects of magic and presentation.
I liked it when they called Bowies character a WIZARD.

I seem to remeber the author somewhere admitting that he had made up the term 'The Prestige' for the book. And how about the film The Illusionist, which came out soon after - also very good.

Could that guy with the machine take the MDC? I've always wondered about that.

If the machine weren't fictional and if the guy (Tesla) followed the application rules, I don't see why not.

I began watching it this weekend but got interrupted about 1/3 of the way through and had to return it before watching the rest. I was enjoying it, though perhaps as much for Jessica Biel as for the story.

What rules would he have a problem with?

No problems not of his own making.

Claim: My machine creates exact duplicates in another location which I can specify

Here are the notarized affidavits from two respected magicians, a theoretical physicist, and my mother

Here are the handbills of my performances, thereby demonstrating my media presence

Unfortunately Nikola Tesla passed away in 1943, many years before the MDC was established.

I loved this movie. I thought the book was better (aren't they always?), but a great representation of period magic. Stellar cast too.

I think that people are currently developing electronic instruments that do what many would call "paranormal" things.

I enjoyed the style of the Illusionist over the Prestige.
The back and forth about truth was far more compelling in my opinion.

However I did really enjoy the Tesla scenes.

Would you mind giving a specific example?
