Promiscuity causes demonic possession!

I got this off the atheist knitting forum:

http://www.lifesitenews.com/ldn/2008/aug/08081506.html

Quote:
A priest of Westminster, the leading diocese of the Catholic Church of England and Wales, has written that promiscuity, whether homosexual or heterosexual, can lead to dire spiritual consequences, in addition to the dangers to physical health.

Promiscuity, as well as homosexuality and pornography, says 73 year-old Fr. Jeremy Davies, is a form of sexual perversion and can lead to demonic possession. Offering what may be an explanation for the explosion of homosexuality in recent years, Fr. Davies said, "Among the causes of homosexuality is a contagious demonic factor."

So....gay people are demonically possessed. Kinda cool.

Why do you think we serve so much pea-soup at our dinner parties?

It's good to see the Catholic church is evolving with the times.

He can not seem to keep a consistent causal relationship there. He is claiming homosexuality can lead to demonic possession and then that demonic possession leads to homosexuality.

Not that promiscuity is caused by demon-possession?

Ah, of course not! This way, they get to blame YOU for being demon-possessed. Nice double whammy there from the RCC.

The worst part about all of this is the insidious dehumanization of homosexuals. If they're posessed, they're not real people to love, care about or respect.

I disagree Loss Leader - I think the worse part of this is the demonisation of homosexuals...

Well, the flip side of that is that they can be 'cured' of their demonic possession.

I always thought my girlfriend was a bit of a demon between the sheets... she must be a lesbian...

Or a porn star...

Just goes to show that if you love pornography or big-burly men (and also happen to be a man) the best way to deal with this is to have another man splash your face with holy juice while shouting the name of the lord.

Don’t forget that to the RCC paedophiles are homosexuals, this is just another out on the whole priests abusing children thing. It wasn’t their fault they abused kids, they were possessed by a demon. It wouldn’t surprise me if those US priests underwent some sort of exorcism to ‘fix’ them before they were shunted to another parish.

To abuse again of course, those demons are hard to shake I guess.

Yep, have another man throw special fluids and oil over you, shout in your face, put his hands on your body, shove you around, and shake you while invoking the name of the Lord. That'll cure homosexuality in no time flat.

I the interests of scientific research I propose that we need to increase our personal promiscuity with chosen parterns(it would appear to be better if the increase was with same sex partners but it is not needed) and see how many of us get possesed by demons.

Who is with me?

Well, I don't want to increase my promiscuity. I rather like monogamy, but that's my own personal choice. However the article also says:

Quote:
Fr. Davies also warns in his book against so-called New Age and occult practices, as well as trendy exercise and "spiritual healing" regimens derived from eastern religions.
By trendy exercise, I assume he means yoga. I'm thinking of taking a yoga class this weekend at the gym. I will report back if I get demonically possessed whilst practicing yoga.

One of my (many) wake up calls was when we were having our bipolar son evaluated. They seemed concerned that we might think he was possessed by demons.
Articles like that amaze me that people think with the same minds that can come up with that stuff.

There is an atheist knitting forum?

You can't blame the RCC for standing behind what it states as "facts". Blame them for their hypocrisy, certainly, but they've held that God, angels, Satan and demons have existed all along. This has been as "true" for the RCC in 1508 as it is in 2008 and will be in 2508.
