Fiorina: "I don't think John McCain could run a major corporation."

Carly Fiorina says "I don't think John McCain could run a major corporation."

(For that matter, neither could Carly Fiorina, who ran Hewlet-Packard into the ground.)

It's like deja vu all over again. She didn't think Obama could run a major corporation either.

From your link;

Quote:
I don't think John McCain could run a major corporation. I don't think Barack Obama could run a major corporation. I don't think Joe Biden could. But it is not the same as being the president or vice president of the United States. It is a fallacy to suggest that the country is like a company, so of course, to run a business, you have to have a lifetime of experience in business, but that's not what Sarah Palin, John McCain, Barack Obama or Joe Biden are doing.
OK so McCain, Obama, Biden and Palin, none of them could run a major corporation. Not just McCain, Nice job of cherry-picking, Puppy.

Agreed.

I'm sorry to see when anyone cherry picks on this one. I saw the whole question and answer on video and it was 100% clear that she was talking about all four Pres/VP candidates and making a broader point that the jobs are entirely different (CEO vs President).

She was NOT attempting to make a public statement that McCain, Palin, Obama OR Biden were not specifically and/or personally qualified to be President. To take her quote and put it into that context is just about as intellectually dishonest as you can get. I'm very, very saddened to see some try to run with this.

Would you like a tissue?

Guess what, people in the McCain campaign are not thrilled about this, either:

Quote:
A top McCain official contacted by CNN said, on condition on anonymity, "No big deal, but not how you get on the surrogate all-star team. Very Biden-like."
“This campaign source said Fiorina would be discouraged from additional media interviews.

Another top campaign adviser was far less diplomatic.
"Carly will now disappear," this source said. "Senator McCain was furious." Asked to define "disappear," this source said, adding that she would be off TV for a while – but remain at the Republican National Committee and keep her role as head of the party’s joint fundraising committee with the McCain campaign.
Fiorina was booked for several TV interviews over the next few days, including one on CNN. Those interviews have been canceled.

Personally, I don't see why any one of the four couldn't run a corporation, and I certainly wouldn't want a president who couldn't even run a corporation. It's kind of like saying that a doctor can't do the job of a nurse. I would hope my doctor knows everything that a nurse knows about medicine and more.

As Atrios has said, now that we own the 18th largest company in the world, shouldn't we elect someone who could run a corporation?
