Give me a * break!

According to McCain, one of Palin's qualifications is her experience serving as the commander of Alaska’s National Guard.

Is he for real?

Quote:
Under state control, the Guard's duties are more routine. On Monday, Guard soldiers transported a woman with an eye injury to Nome for medical treatment. A few days earlier, Guard airmen rescued a man after his plane went down in a spruce bog 57 miles southeast of Galena. And in late July, the Guard was called in to a help a man who'd fallen off the roof of his cabin in the Brooks Range mountains.

Give me a break.

Palin's done. She passed the RNC speech, but she failed the Gibson interview.

Now she's out telling a lie about the teleprompter failing during her RNC speech, saying that she just looked at the Ohio delegation and winged it. People who could see the prompter (as well as convention staff) say that this is just not true.

What does it mean when you are so used to lying that you lie even when you don't have to?

It is somewhat outlandish...but Bill Clinton said the same thing in 1992. I can't recall if Bush said it in 2000. He wasn't so keen on anyone talking about his military record, preferring to fall back on "I'll have the best advice in the world", which meant Cheney and Powell. I'll bet Dukakis said it.

Methinks that the Dems only wish she was done.

I still think that the best barometer of her worth as a Republican vice-president is directly proportional to the outrageous panic being demonstrated by most of the liberal Democratic corps.

If they are getting this freaked, GOP is doing some thing right.

Oh, do you have a reference?

The only one I found doesn't support your claim...

But, another poorly researched accusation would not be a surprise to anyone.

I've noticed that Palin has been lambasted over and over again on the Daily Show.

Then it clinged to me:

It's because she makes it so easy.

Too bad these sentiments are only ringing true with people who already agree with your side and are already definately going to vote for Obama. Palin is far from "done" and I look forward to feeding you guys your words in the future.

I was just suggesting some mood music that Whiplash might find appropriate for his S&M fantasies about punishing liberals. I've never been part of something like that before, so maybe I'm rushing things. Do you think he should start with David Duke and work his way up?

Dems do quite fine in punishing themselves.

This is of course, just my opinion.

Even though I am Dem-leaning (and you don't have to be a Dem to see that Palin is a fraud), I was never exactly freaked, but was trying not to underestimate the stupidity of the electorate, mistakes I made both in 2000 and 2004, when I believed that there was no way Bush could get elected and then re-elected. Palin is much worse than Bush.

I'm feeling less worried... her favorability rating has gone down what, 10 points in three days? (http://www.fivethirtyeight.com/2008/...s-eroding.html) Gibson + Tina Fey + Palin herself seem to be exposing how unqualified she is for VP.

There would be at least two possibilities-
  • You underestimated the stupidity of the electorate
  • You stupidly misunderestimated the stupidity of the electorate

Certainly her brief moment as media star will fade and she will come down to Earth. Some people who loved her initially will cool as time exposes her as just another politician. However, don't count her out, and don't think that, in the absence of significant gaffes, she will end up dragging down McCain. My guess is that focus will shift back to the top of the ticket, but she will still be a marginal plus for him.

Sarah Palin the media phenomenon may be "done", but you won't see McCain regretting his choice barring an absolute disaster in the debates, or some more significant dirt than has been dug so far.

Never, ever underestimate the stupidity of the voters - or the rabid willingness of certain politicians to use that stupidity against them (thus people voting against all their real interests because they have been convinced evil city dwellers will make them all become gay and marry their cows).

Right, a senior national reporter for ABC news who was actually there at the RNC has no credibility.

Alright, I am sorry, my source was an opinion page, so really same difference.

However, if your guy, and you, were saying that Palin was lying about this issue, the evidence is really pretty thin, IMHO.

I would say the ones that are freaked exhibit the following behaviours:
  1. Name-calling (Caribou Barbie, pig, Old Man, Grampa).
  2. Derisive remarks and colorful descriptions (snivelling, etc).
  3. Posting incorrect information in failed attacks (bogus book-ban lists, fantastic affair allegations).

I am sure there are other behaviours.

Any one of these might not be a cause for alarm, but they are all prevalent in the anti-McCain crowd, at least here on JREF.

Now, I have been watching JREF posts, in general, since I first became a forum member. I have always been impressed by the level of intelligence I have seen demonstrated by the various participants here.

So, how to reconcile the intelligent poster population here at JREF, with the knee-jerk, weird reactionary posts we've been seeing?

All I can think of is that these people are, for lack of a better word, freaked.
