David Blaine's

So, I just saw an abc special where David Blaine jumped off a platform after hanging upside down for a couple days. It was perhaps the least impressive trick I've ever seen. He basically just jumped and had a wire stop him... uh, nice effect?

He's turned more into an endurance stunt man than a magician. After finding out about his levitation deception he's been on my short list.

It wasn't a camera trick .... it was a camera illusion! :-)

An explanation for those who didn't see it. On one of his TV shows, Blaine does his "levitation" trick for some people on the street. It's a simple, but effective illusion. And the reaction to it by the people on the street was, I'm sure, genuine. They saw Blaine apparently floating about an inch above the pavement. The problem is that a reverse shot of two feet dangling about three feet in the air was inserted into the video. It was a cheap camera trick.

I just saw a video shot by an audience member on youtube. What was supposed to happen? Was he supposed to slowly levitate away? It looked like a trick gone bad to me.
