Enjoy it while you can. Pretty soon, Jeff Corey will be along to tell you how much it sucks and/or how you'll get screwed-over by your provider.

Surely you jest! (Or you live IN the switching station) Seems like getting T1+ speeds from DSL would be pretty unusual. Whomp! |

On cable I get about 2 Mbps (although for a few weeks I had insane downloads at 3 Mpbs).
I've heard of people on cable modems exceeded their providers capped download speed ("stealing bandwith"). |

I can tell you more than you ever even wanted to think existed about modems, if you like. How's your information theory, fourier theory, and signal processing/linear algebra? Gotta know that so I can take the right approach. |

Wait, do you get 10mbit or does the entire uni get 10mbit? If the latter tell us what your actual share of that is

I'll see all of your w00ts and raise you an omg.
Shared gigabit for the residences at uni. The good part is that there's no cap, so at 2 or 3 in the morning the bottleneck is my 100Megabit cable. ![]() Gotta love the ability to download at 12 megs/sec, despite the annoying lack of servers able to give me that kind of bandwidth.
