Homeopathetic
Loathe as I am to place a thread on homeopath(etic)y in a forum going under the heading SMMT, it seems it is the only appropriate place.
Recently have been looking closely at the Consumer Protection Law in the U.K. in relation to 'psychic woo'. More I think about it, the more it seems this law can be used against homeopath(etic)y.
The new law brought in earlier this year seems clearly to prohibit misleading claims that induce (con) vulnerable or average people/groups into commercial transactions.
I am as certain as I can be (not being medically trained) that there is not a shred of credible evidence for the efficacy of homeopathetic 'medicines', and in fact quite the contrary i.e all credible evidence shows it does not work other than via the placebo/nice person/warm caring effects.
I see there is a great thread where people were urged to contact their M.P.s a couple of years back to fight against a parliamentary motion signed by 200 of them in support of Homeopathy in the N.H.S. Maybe it is time for another concerted move to mail them and assk that the full weight of this law is brought to bear against homeopathetic practitioners, manufacturers and retailers? If there is enough support please make suggestions for a short, sharp, to the point letter form which can be used as a template for individual letters to M.P.s. (If you want more on the law I will be happy to post what I think are the relevant bits).
Finally, for now, I urge you to avoid getting caught up in a debate with any homeopathetic agents provocateurs/trolls who may appear here and try to divert us from action.
