GOP Sen. Ted Stevens (Alaska) found guilty of corruption

Bad news for the GOP's prospects of holding the Senate seat in Alaska. I wonder if/how this affects things for the Dem's potential to get a filibuster-proof majority in the Senate? I also wonder if there will be any splash damage on Palin because of this (weren't she and Stevens politically cozy?)

I don't think that Palin was too cozy with anyone in Alaska. Remember, the panel that unanimously accepted the report on Troopergate was majority Republican. By report, the head of the Alaska republican committee was stunned when she was named VP.

It's at least theoretically possible that they were cozy with her, but were honest.

Possible? Yes. The President's power to pardon is unlimited with respect to federal crimes.

Done. I heard on NPR this morning that McCain, Palin, and pretty much everyone else in the GOP establishment have denounced Stevens. I wonder if he'll want to get any payback?
