Since Minilla was basically a good-guy monster, I don't believe he was ever shelled, in a false-flag attack or otherwise.

Why don't you tell us what you think, and why? Preferably without assuming that we can read your mind.

Why do I get the feeling that moon1969 is stuck in 1939?

Yes, this seems to be a classic "False Flag." Fortunately they are very rare.

Now what? Where is this thread supposed to go?

Yes it was. So, obviously every conspiracy theory ever created is correct. Wake up, sheeple!

No, the shelling of Mainila was a false false flag operation.

The evil <insert current codeword for a certain group of people I don't like, so I can't be accused of racism> who were running Finland at the time needed a war to further their nefarious plans. (It should be noted in passing that these were not necessarily the publicly acknowledged "leaders", but the evil codewords that really had the power.)

It was necessary for public opinion to be that Russia was the aggressor, so the artillery was withdrawn to a position where it could not possibly hit Russia.

On the other hand, no one would believe that Russia would start a war with no pretext whatsoever, so sappers were sent into Russia (at night, when everyone was asleep) to wire explosives simulating an artillery bombardment. The sappers were "hushed up" by informing them that if they tattled, they would lose both their jobs and their retirement benefits.

Later, operatives under control of the codewords planted forged papers into Zhdanov's records, and the operation was a success.

There is no evidence that wasn't faked that it didn't happen this way.

Ah yes, that rings a bell ...

* We know that the Russians were technically capable of shelling Mainila, whereas your particular variant of The Truth requires a Gizmo-of-the-Gaps for the existence of which you have no evidence.

* There are documents pointing to the complicity of the Soviet Government in the shelling of Mainila. There are none implicating the USG in 9/11.

* There is a wealth of evidence as to the hijackers, their training, their motivation, and their actions once onboard the planes; there is no corresponding record of Finnish military personel shelling Mainila.

* The Russians, wishing to invade Finland, pinned the blame for the shelling of Mainila on the Finns. The USG, apparently seeking to invade Iraq, blamed 9/11 on Saudis.

* The shelling of Mainila did not provoke lots of awkward questions about the preparedness and competence of the Soviet regime.

* The Soviets suffered no losses at Mainila. Besides the loss of life on 9/11, it was also an economic catastrophe.

* The Finns said they didn't shell Mainila. Al Qaeda claimed responsibility for 9/11.
Gather round, folks, and see what a real false flag looks like.

The subsequent invasion of Finland sure did. The Fins really handed the Soviets their butts. Of course the Soviets greatly outnumbered them and the Fins had limited supplies so an eventual peace favorable to the Soviets was inevitable.
