Holiday PC Raspberry

Here goes a rant over something that has probably beed hashed out over and over here before but...

When did everyone in the world become such whiney little turds. You know it is getting to xmas season and I want my kids to make a snowman not a snowperson.

I want my kids to walk around on Thanksgiving with painted-macaroni necklaces and little cutout construction paper feathers stapled to little construction paper headbands.

But the school says no. It might hurt the feelings of 'real' indians out there (I've got news for them my wife is a 'real' indian). They say that it also will leave out those muslims who dont celebrate Thanksgiving.

This is to all of you out there who get offended by stupid things like this. F you.

Feeling better now.

Scott

G.S.,
I'm just curious, but could you say WHY you want your kids to do these things?

1) So go in your yard with them and make a snowman. Put a penis on it, even. What's the problem?

2/3) That doesn't make sense. You called up the school and said "I want my kids to have construction-paper headwear on Thanksgiving"? And then they said "no"? What does Islam have to do with Thanksgiving? I wasn't aware that Thanksgiving was a holiday intended for a particular religion.

GS, are you talking about real events here, or are you just making things up?

Whomp,

Because it is fun. I remember doing these things (then eating all of the little macaroni pieces) and having a great time. Bringing them home to mom and dad was also something that was great

The Halloween Carnival apparently became some other daftly titled, unoffensive (and totally meaningless) piece of drivel.

You know what Jeff Foxworthy makes me laugh, and I am a redneck. Why have so many people become so thin skinned.

Tony,

I told the teacher and the principal how ridiculous I thought they were being. Their eyes glazed over in what I could only assume was confusion at the fact that that I thought they were idiots.

geni,

Ha, ha, ha.

LFTKBS,

These are actual events. There is a very high concentration of muslims and hindus in our area. Enough that all of the PTA paperwork is printed in three languages. I'm not sure how but they even left Spanish off.

I did not call up the school and ask, this was brought up in a "Dad's Donuts" meeting and the to the PTA and so on. Islam has nothing to do with Thanksgiving, I guess that is partly my point. Why wouldn't the school want to teach the 'new' kids about Thanksgiving, Indians, pilgrams, contruction-paper evening wear regardless of religion, birthplace, haircolor etc.

Is there anything you, as PTA member, could do?

Simply put,

There's great power over the lives of others in playing the victim.

We have become a global society with a hive-like "victim mentality".

What I don't understand is why some want to make "offending" someone or some group of people equal to an actual crime.

Schools changing mascots, states changing flags, speech begin altered all in the name of not offending anyone.

Where will it end?

..sigh..

Slightly off topic I know, but I just watched a TV programme about ads that were banned from TV. Some of these were really quite innocuous, but 6 people complained - so they were banned. One guy thought it gratuitous to show a girl in a shower to advertise - wait for it...........shower gel!

The snowman reminded me of the "Calvin and Hobbes" Strip...

(We see Calvin looking at Suzy's snowwoman, which has a bosom):

CALVIN: What is wrong with your snowman, Suzy?
SUZY: It's a snowWOMAN.

(We see Calvin finishing a snowman. We only see the snowman from the back, but we DO see it is standing proudly with its hands on its hips)

MOM: I don't care. We're NOT having an "anatomically correct" snowman in the front yard.

What does being Muslim have to do with celebrating Thanksgiving??

It's an American holiday. Some Americans are Muslim. Ergo...
