Cobb County: From warning stickers on evolution to Scientology in school
Cobb County became famous regarding Selman v. Cobb County School District, which wanted to add a disclaimer to science books stating that "Evolution is a theory, not a fact, concerning the origin of living things." The board claimed there was no religious intention behind the sticker.
Now the press reports Applied Scholastics, a program tied to the Church of Scientology, operates in Cobb County with the approval of the Georgia Board of Education.

Well jeez, of course a mediocre sci-fi writer who was habitually high has good ideas about how to teach kids! What's the big deal?

I guess if you have problems with phonics, learning to use dictionaries, getting examples of what you are learning and not going to an advanced concept before really learning the simpler concepts then you have a problem with these tutors. Because that sums up the Applied Scholastics tutoring program. I know Scientologists and non-Scientologists (Christians, Baptists, atheists, etc.) alike that use this program.

But why not use one of the hundreds of other programs that use the same techniques but don't fund cults?
