Smarties are powdery and tart???
I was about to point out that I didn't think Americans even -had- smarties, but apparently they use that name for a candy we call Rockets. |

When I was a kid, we used to call Smarties "doctor pills".
If only I had been enterprising enough to sell them at school... |

Lol smarties were part of my Hunter Thompson briefcase. They represented the "laughers" part of the "whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, laughers, [and] screamers."
![]() I didn't have tequila so I substituted Jager but otherwise everything is represented. Oh, and because what's the point of the prop without the costume? ![]()

Well when I was a kid we just tried to get others laughing so hard while they were drinking their milk that it would come out their nose, now kids are blowing ‘smartie’ dust out their noses. I have never smoked cigarettes but I do enjoy an occasional cigar so I guess I might have been a Necco Wafer ‘smoker’.

OMFSM!
It must have been a slow news day, that is teh stupidest thing ever. Have they ever been to a school? Kids talk about dope and sex all the time, and they worry about Smarties, meanwhile.... you can buy drugs... you can buy alcohol or drink your parent's... you can use your parent's medications... you can get the crap knocked out of you by your parents... Must have been a slow news day! |

I used to love these as a kid:
![]() It's a licorice pipe, in case you're wondering. I ate those like candy (because, well, they are candy), occasionally pretending to smoke them. As a result, I used cannabis casually while in college and I still enjoy the occasional beer; licorice pipes also made me an atheist. No wonder some concerned mothers are lobbying to ban them. |

Man, I feel bad for this school. All this starts up right after the controversy surrounding the gang-raping of glazed donuts finally died down.

Noooo! The Canadian (actually British) things are the real and original
Smarties, what you call smarties are "refreshers". ![]() Smarties are a little known but vital part of the British army's "hearts and minds" arsenal. Been used by generations of British soldiers to pacify local kids, from Berlin to Borneo and from Belfast to Basra (to venture no further than the Bs). Also used as patent medicine by the S.A.S. in Indonesia. Tribespeople eventually invented all sorts of ailments cureable only by the administration of a couple of smarties. |

I was wondering how the hell anyone could breathe those tasty Nestlé chocolate candies... until I realized they were referring to those disgusting pill-like powdery candy that I always threw away at Halloween. Still retarded, but makes a bit more sense I guess.
