"WHAT???" Posts.
Every once in a while I read posts by people here that sound like (to me):
While lounging in the local taiga, composing poetry with cantabile, I noticed an obsequious hostler. However, it is apodictic that I am guilty of malapropism, for it wasn't really cantabile, but egregious adumbration! I am often reminded that moiety of common oblation is often thaumaturgy. The lacuna, which is almost hyaline, of others' immanent mental heuristics are mere sartorial rags!!! The forereach, corresponding to the 'carpe diem' principle, of wise persons such as myself, is seldomly nonce words or nugatory proloxious quotidian rodomontade, but rather fully formed and effulgent ideas, damascened with metaphorically gorpish jewels, incapable of emendation. Anywho... I call these "WHAT???" posts. ![]() Anyone have examples of this in the forum, or in everyday life? |

I love words and language, and delight in clever prose. However, the purpose of writing or speaking is communication, after all.
If the folks you're trying to communicate with have to carry around an unabridged dictionary to understand you, it ain't workin'. When you see stuff like the parody you (quite cleverly!) constructed, the only conclusion is the fellow is more interested in displaying his enormous vocabulary. A particular example is the vocabulary-rich William Buckley. In watching several debates of his with other "authorities", it was pretty obvious that he was more interested in one-upmanship than debate. |
