Cutting a banana

Has anyone heard of cutting a banana without "disturbing the skin"? I heard of this one one website but am unfamiliar with it. Neat trick if it was actually done.

I have read about it in a children's magic book, with full explanation on how it is done. It is an old prank that I thought everybody knew about now. I won't reveal the secret because of the "don't reveal secrets" rule... It does involve some disturbing of the skin but without leaving obvious traces.

Yeah, I woudln't mind knowing but I wasn't going to ask. I figured it was an old trick, but never saw it. I only read about it today when someone on another forum mentioned something someone tried to pass off as "using his ki".

I figured a way it may be possible, as long as you have a pre-preped banana.

I was just curious as to how common this was.

Didn't everyone learn how to do this as kids?

I saw a video of Randi demonstrating this trick at a TAM...
(If that crosses the line, I apologize)

I still do this to bug my kids. I can also pull the whole banana out leaving the skin intact and still attached to the bunch.

I once cut a mango without disturbing the skin. It was an overrated experience.

I know two methods. One of them I learned as a kid, the other one I learned right here.

This was my exact thought when I saw the thread title. Ah, Don, we miss ya. I did this to all of the bananas on the bunch when I saw the show. The parental units were not pleased with me.

Why wouldn't you want to disturb the skin? Will it come back from the trash to haunt me?
