The first time it works for you

Today I put what I have learnt about mentalism and the like into practice and it worked for me better than expected. I was buying a set of hair clippers and to cut a long story short, I managed to get a rather large discount and incorrect change. I didn't set out to get them cheaper or anything but the opportunity came along and I couldn't resist trying what I've learnt. I gave the extra money I made to a Salvation Army dude who was shaking his tin because I felt a little guilty about it but proud at the same time. It was like the first time you pull off a card trick as a kid x10

After experiencing both the pride and guilt, I couldn't help but wonder how the supposed mediums and the like live with themselves ripping people off every day for a living etc. Aside from that, it was good to know that it works as I understood it would and I look foward to developing my skills further. Time to hit the library me thinks.

What are some of your stories of the first time a trick has worked for you and really impressed you.

If "and the like" means a book titled How to Negotiate with Hairdressers I understand. If "and the like means" you read Star Wars books and used Jedi mind tricks I'm a bit skeptical.

Short changing isn't a traditional mentalism effect. Did you give the clerk a blank piece of paper like you saw on the Darren Browne show? What technique(s) are you talking about? The Salvation Army tin is the route most conscious-ridden mentalists take

I think you might know more than most of us now.

Your library seems to have a more extensive mind-control section than my own.

Did the salesperson end up short in the till tonight? That would be wrong. Giving it to a charity would not excuse that.
Just a question.

Sounds like the 'short change con' with all the ones and then you swap for a 20...

?

PS - That wasn't just a question - there was also a statement/judgement in there...

I have to agree in part tho. I think if I'd succesfully pulled a shortchange con off, I'd feel compelled to tell the clerk what I did and give them the money back...

So the "long story" involves you being a thief, and you're here passing it off as practicing your conjuring. Dare you to go tell the folks at the Genii forum that.
