TAM forum welcome table, help needed

Like last year Kochanski and I will be doing a Forum Welcome Table. It will be in the room where the speakers are, and will have a bulletin board with a schedule of official and unofficial stuff going on. Plus people will be welcome to post stuff as long as we ok it.

Also we will have the drop for Alisons tuna/peanut butter donations (and be selling them) and Robert Lancaster tshirt sign up and be giving away pigasus and SAPS stickers and Badalien fridge magnets and have a display of brochures from businesses and skeptic groups of forum members.

I really need some people that are willing to stop by a few times and say "hey need a break?" or willing to sit and just help out every now and again. You can hear the speakers, and it's a nice place to kinda chill and meet people that stop by. There will be money from the tuna sales, and also there is a donation jar to help defray the cost of table rental. We don't want to cost the JREF money by being there.

I started this as a way of the forum giving back to the JREF for letting us be here. Sometimes people say "well why is there even a forum" and hey... this is one thing I proudly point to. The welcome table is very important.

So, what I need is if you see me or Kochanski sitting there, offer to give us a break. We'd like to walk around or heck even use the bathroom. I'd like to be able to sit with my daughter some.

Thanks!

I'll be back there manning the Skepticamp table for a couple of shifts, so I'd be glad to move over to the forum table for a while as well.

THANKS! I don't like to do anything formal but this year we have a few more things to keep an eye on. People will be dropping off and buying tuna, we have to smile and wave the donation jar at people....and answer questions. If you don't know an answer, make one up or Natlie or myself will show up soon.

And thank you kindly, Kitty and Kochanski and whoever else takes a seat, for taking care of some of the tuna sales

If I ever have a moment to breathe, I'll be over at the forum table too

I'll drop by at least once, maybe more...my back is much happier if I move around, so I'll just build manning the Forum table in to the end of one of my medically-mandated strolls.

I'd be happy to donate some time too. Probably Thursday and Saturday. My Friday and Sunday volunteer time is pretty much all eaten up. Will there be a sign up sheet available there to see when you'll need the most help?

I don't think we have gotten that organized Eos, show up when you think you can help and spell the people (or keep them company) at the table. It should be a lot of fun, it certainly was last year.

oh yeah!

It's just kochanski and I need a break and hey we love to have people come sit with us. Just shake the donation jar and smile and say "wow want to buy some tuna?" (no really you just have to be friendly.

And if someone is looking confused offer to help them. Except if it's Loon.

Loon, you are always worth the investment, but the rest of us had to sit through that talk and worry about you at the same time.

A slightly crazy, borderline wacky, certified loony idea: Have a small sign or flag or goat that you can put out that indicates you really need a break right that second or there's going to be trouble. One of us who are in the know might spot such a thing from across the room and come running.

Sorry Loon. I mean now that Loon is alive and all that, I have to say that our little ambulance ride was really a lot of fun (thank your insurance). Plus, as you said, missing certain talks is a plus. But this year, let's just go get a beer or something instead ok?

Kitty and Kochanski,
Thank you for taking some order forms for the T-shirts; fundraising for the Lancasters to issue at the table. I really appreciate it. I'm really sorry I can't offer some assistance, but I wanted you both to know your efforts are hugely appreciated, even if from afar.

thanks! We're giving out great stuff, selling tuna, have sign up things for the Lancasters, and makig people feel welcome (well SOME people, when Shemp shows up he's welcome but his goats had better have had a bath this year).

oh and shake the donation jar at people, we'll have some freebies, but nothing in life is free! We want to make sure we repay the cost to JREF for out table (because nothing in Vegas is really free)
