Open Office spreadsheet question
Is there a way to default it to act like Excel in deleting a cell, ie when I hit "delete" it just deletes w/o asking me what I want to delete? I looked under tools, options, etc to no avail. Thx

RTFM = Read The Flippin'* Manual
NSFW** Link Again Google is your friend.... * or simalar... ** before you ask NSFW = Not Suitable For Work. In others words don't open this link if you are at work co it might contain swearing, naughty pictures or other objectional content. ![]() Basically the lesson here is the answer to many simple questions can be found with a quick Google Search ( or in the manual) in half the time it takes to post the question in the forum... |

On the other hand, the reason Google can help you is because somebody else posed a similar question on some forum that Google indexed...

Yeah I shoulda googled...
On the other hand, helping someone doesn't give one the right to be a tool. Or if we prefer to go with acronym lingo, how about "DBAD." PS I checked the "manual" - ie OO's help (F1) - and didn't find FYI. |

Every thread you've started in here is an example of a lack of willingness to even try to google an answer, or it's a huge frustrated rant wanting to rip a "POS" off your system or do something you could before because you haven't taken the time to walk up the learning curve of a new OS.
It's not being a tool to be tired of you wanting us to fix what you don't seem to want to learn. Online documentation is a standard for open source projects, of which OpenOffice is one. You yourself complained of that which means you know Google can answer your question. We're not your helpdesk. Google and RTFM. ETA: If you still can't get it *after* you google and rtfm, then I am happy to help. |

I'm going to retract my condescending and harsh critique to bigred. It's a rough morning for me and red didn't quite deserve the snark I threw about.
I apologize, bigred. That said, I think it would be good to gather into the links section of this forum area some links to resources that would help folks in red's position. I've added some yesterday for unix and linux tutorials, etc. Perhaps GreNME can help add some links to microsoft related knowledge bases that are good. That would help things in this section focus on broader issues or more granular technical discussions and possibly give an easier resource than just blindly asking questions. Not that I have the best idea for the tone or topic of this forum. I'm just trying to help cut down on easy peasy fixes and focus more on more complex issues. Once again, sorry for the snap bigred. I'll do my best to keep unrelated emotions from pouring out onto others. |

I think your posts speak for themselves, both good and bad. No point continuing this.
