Bit Torrents: suddenly getting "invalid torrent" error

Weird - I installed new version of Firefox but tried IE and same thing.......when I try to download torrent, I get "invalid torrent file" error from both BitTorrent and uTorrent for various files I've tried (including ones I havedownloaded before recently). Ideas on possible causes?

Obviously the RIAA hacked your computer. Prepare yourself for the jackbooted copyright thugs to appear at your door to take you to a "re-education center."

Is there any logging aside from the error message to look at, or is there an error number in the error message we can google?

I presume you're talking about torrents you downloaded using your old browser, but was part-way through downloading when you updated.

Have you tried downloading them again? You should be able to pick up from where you left off.

The usual reason for this is if you moved or erased the original torrent file after already opening it with your torrent program. Try deleting your Firefox/IE cache before downloading another torrent. Also clear anything already opened in your bittorrent client before starting another bittorrent download.
