I'm probably old enough to remember him, but I don't.

I got one of his prayer rugs in the mail, maybe 15 years ago.. If failing memory serves.
I believe all I had to do was send money and I'd get a family sized one. ![]() Ike is (was) one of those "whited sepulchers" that infest the christian religion. |

I got a prayer rug too. I bundled it up with a little note and sent it back. A consumate flim-flam man, on a par with Popoff.

He was about the most brazen con-man that I have ever seen. He didn't even TRY to cover up that he was only doing it for the loot. How anybody ever fell for his schtick is beyond comprehension.

Wow! Reverend Ike! I probably haven't given him a thought in 30 years.
Thanks for reminding me that I'm old. |

I remember Rev Ike. When I was at college my friends and I used to watch him. He was one of our favorites because if you donated to his church he would send you a coin "with blessings on one side, and good luck on the other. So no matter how it lands when you flip it, you will have good things happen to you".
Then the chior would sing that old hymm "Call Him Up on the Luck Line". While they were singing, he would pick up a phone and talk into it very seriously, but with no audio because the choir was singing. ...we always thought that he was saying into the phone "...yes. A loaf of bread, a quart of milk, a pound of salami, laundry detergent....."

Well, he was a huckster, pure and simple, but he set the pace for those following after him.
