Pendragons - bad news

This is pretty sad news, they were one of the slickest acts in magic - I gather that Charlotte has gone solo with a live act already.

Quote:
As reported by TMZ.com and multiple magic websites[12] , on July 8th 2009 Jonathan Pendragon was arrested at gunpoint for allegedly firing a bullet into the floor of his home during a dispute with his wife, Charlotte. He was jailed that day in San Luis Obispo, California on charges of assault with a deadly weapon, spousal abuse, terrorist threats and firing a weapon in an inhabited dwelling. Further official information about his arrest has not yet been released.
On August 10, 2009, TMZ reported that Pendragon was not able to attend his arraignment since he was confined in a medical facility on involuntary psychiatric hold.[13]

There is a thread on Magic Cafe About this with a quote from Charlotte, the TMZ report isn't wholly accurate.

There was also a thread on the genii forums, but I believe it linked to TMZ. If I'm not mistaken the TMZ post at the time said something about Jonathan attempting to break into his home, prompting his wife to call the cops. Commenters had a field day: "What kind of crappy magician can't break into his own home?" "'World famous'? I've never heard of the guy." I was kind of surprised when they decided to put out the L&L DVDs...

How is firing a gun at your wife a terrorist threat? It's inexcusable, don't get me wrong, but terrorism?

I fear we may be turning into Viccini.

Penn and Teller fire guns at each other all the time.

They're not married so there's no contract to say they can't

I heard that Jonathan had already tried tying Charlotte up and bundling her into a box, but she'd got out of that really quickly.

I know, I shouldn't joke.

Oh this is so sad. I saw them perform at our local little theatre and they were fantastic!

They made a point of letting everyone know the animals in their act were all rescue animals (and the family pets).

They also featured a CAT. They had their CAT in the act, and the cat did really well! I always had a soft spot for them ever since that.

When I went to see them the group I was in made me move up to the last seat in the balcony... I didn't know it was so that we could figure out the tricks (bummer).

This is so sad...

Charlette is apparently performing a solo act now. Solo is an odd way to put it. There are unnamed helpers in the show. But Copperfield has various helpers as does Burton and other top illusionists.
