UK government declassifies UFO documents

http://ufos.nationalarchives.gov.uk/

Knock yourselves out. Some of these are quite entertaining.

Sorry I missed this first time around. I'll look some of it over and alert my UFOlogist buddy. Anything interesting I'll return and note. Cheers!

I betcha I can summarize it :
* a part will be explanable (moon/plane lights/stars/lightining/clouds whatever)
* from the one unexplanable the conclusion will be "we don't know"
* all will be based on anecdote/eye witness

What do I win ?

One doesn't necessarily need evidence to back up arguments. Interresting Ian own's words.

Plus that is an old skeptic game, to ask for evidence. Historian's take on skepticism

I never thought I would ever feel empathy, let alone pity, for a Minister of Parliament.

...until finishing only a few pages of one of these files.

Anyone in these files who replied to their woo constituents on this subject should have all of their expenses paid without review - directly by their constituents...

Dr. David Clarke deserves a lot of credit for his work on this. He is not a UFO proponent but wants all the UFO files to be released to show there is no great conspiracy and allow all the information to be available. He summarizes the files in his recent video. If you want to know what is in the files, this will give you a snapshot:

I use to participate on UFO forums. Everytime a country "declassifies" UFO related information, UFO enthusiasts claim victory on their cause, kind of.

Strangely, I never hear of any analysis of the said information on their part. OK, I wonder, what's the best declassified case?, any alien body finaly handed to scientists for analysis?, any alien craft available for public examination?

No, no.....sounds like, for them, the mere "declassification action" is further proof of the reality of UFOs as alien ships.

They all talk about it as if the next round is going to present the smoking gun. In reality, it just presents the proof that the governments are as clueless about the phenomena and don't really care. They (the governments of various nations) spend years chasing ghosts and phantom lights and then come to the realization it is a waste of money, they can't resolve the issue, and people confuse mundane things for alien spaceships. End result is they give up. The US figured that out in the 1960s.

Thanks, it can be adapted for any major UFO sighting ever

What I read from the UFO people when information like this is released is a pre release promise that they "have it on good authority that this will 'blow the lid' on government involvement" etc. etc.
Then the release where the statements are more "it all looks interesting"
And then it all goes quiet and if questioned about the results of the information released, you may get a "Well of course they didn't let us have all the real stuff"

Crop Circle 'researcher' Colin Andrews had just done exactly the same thing. Even his latest errrr... book claims to be about military involvement in crop circles and features photos of Him and Nick Pope on the cover as if it's some sort of collaborative effort... it isn't, it's a deception... no change there then Colin.
