Can anyone identify this car? (1950's ford)

It says it is a Ford Falcon on the tax disc.

That resembles some English sport coupe.
A 1960 Ford Falcon.

I know they use different names in the UK,Australia, etc than in the US,but the top one looks sort of like a Thunderbird to me. ('57,'58?)

My first car was a burgundy '61 Falcon. I bought it (used ) in '87 when I was 18.

The Falcon, Corvair and Valiant were new in '60 when I graduated college, and Mom let me pick which one I could have.
I went for the Valiant.
Had two of those, then the Barracuda.

Interesting.

So it wasn't so much a "Ford" Falcon, as a body produced by a custom shop to fit on a Ford chassis.

I have to say that as an American, that threw me. No way the Falcon that we knew ever looked that good.

(Thanks to Logical Muse for the links.)
