Rand Paul....Like Father, Like Son.

The guy is running for the GOP Senate Nomination in Kentucky. His political positions are just a carbon copy of his daddy, Ron Paul.
I hope somebody better versed in Kentucky politics will comment on A. How much of a chance he has of getting the Nomination, and B. Of winning the general election if he does. If Memory serves..and it may not..the Senate races in Kentucky have been very close, and nominating somebody as radical as Rand Paul might be throwing a Senate Seat away for the GOP. Is there any move in the Kentucky GOP to find a candidate to beat Rand Paul?

Interesting...I went to school at UK but other than that I didn't really look into their politics.

Apparently the sitting GOP Senator is not running becuase he could not raise enough funds because of he is so unpopular and announced his withdrawal about a week ago.. I wonder if the more mainstream Kentucky GOP prospects were sort of following etiquitte to not challenge a sitting Senator, giving Rand Paul his chance.
Paul Jr is conducting a "Money Bomb" today.

This is good news. A whackadoodle will better polarize the race and turn off the thinking voters toward the GOP.

And think of the resources it will draw away from more rational, thus more electable Republicans.

I like it.

I'm sure they'll come up with somebody. Bunning's last term has been nothing less than a disaster.

His Wiki currently features a great bit about how he valiantly had his dad pay for his schooling, because otherwise he would be forced into government subsidized loans.

I'd work for that campaign! Not because I believe in the cause of course, but because I assume that I'd be paid in gold coins.

That's what they want right? The gold piece as currency? Come one people! Who doesn't want a bag of gold coins plopped down in front of them after a hard day of work putting up posters at colleges mentioning only the free internet stance? It's all about the gp people!

Rand had some interesting ideas... to name your child after her would be beyond stupid. Most people I know who like Rand's philosophy only stayed fascinated through their college years and then got back to reality.

Well maybe he was named after James Randi, but they dropped the "i" as being too feminine for a boy.

To be fair. The full name is Randell, a fairly common first name. But I can understand why one would suspect that Ron names his soom after Ayn....

Too bad he didn't have triplets -- they could have been named Rand, Roark & Rearden. Then Daffy Duck, with his bloodsucking nephews, would have nuttin' on Ron Paul!

He has no prayer of winning. Current Secretary of State Trey Grayson will demolish him in the primary.

The only reason Rand Paul will get more than a few percantage points is because the Paul fans will probably flock to the polls, unlike most people do during the primary.

But seriously, Trey Grayson will in a landslide, and most likely win the election in November in a landslide. He is incredibly popular.

He wasn't named for Ayn Rand. His dad was just a huge Wheel of Time fan.
