Sen. Coburn to help uninsured woman..

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/26315908/#32560146

After the Michael Steel article, the Maddow show highlights Senator Coburn's virtuous act of promising to help an uninsured woman's husband get treatment for brain injury. He says he will get his office to find help for this woman. However, right after, he says that the government should not be helping people because neighbors should be doing that.

IN short.

1. Woman complains about health insurance.
2. Coburn says he'll have his (government) office help.
3. Says that government should not be helping.

I'm happy that Coburn is going to help this lady. However, it would be nice if he picked up on his own contradiction and realized that he's providing government help to that lady.

There is no contradiction, he is helping her as a neighbor and helping her through nepotism. It is only wrong when you try to get the goverment to help everyone in that situation.

He is using his power, as a Government Official, to help her. That is the contradiction. It's not wrong to get the government to help those who need it.

There is nothing wrong with neighbors useing their abilities to help their neibors. As long as he only does it for her, and not for everyone in her situation it fits with his belief system.

It is who you know that is always most important after all.

He is using government resources to help this lady and then is saying that the government shouldn't be helping this lady. If he said he'd pay out of his own pocket to help her, I would say there is no contradiction.

I think that's a common fault.

People often complain about how horrible traffic is, but rarely see their own driving as part of the problem.

Limburger, O'Really, Hammity, and other media comentators routinely talk about how biased the media is against them - failing to either realize or accept that they are part of the media.

When Coburn talks about "the government" so doing X or not doing Y he's viewing himself as an entity outside of it, which is stupid beyond belief.

Isn't it a silly point that the GOP politicians often make? They say the government is always incompetent, then they keep asserting that they need to play a role in that government...

The worst part is when Coburn waxes philosophically about how neighbors should help neighbors. Riiiight. Some guy who needs massive help (probably measured in $100Ks and specialty health services) is going to be adequately served by his "neighbors". Coburn is one of the sickest turds in all of government services.
