Maybe religion is the answer claims atheist scientist

Article: [Maybe religion is the answer claims atheist scientist]

Excerpt:
Quote:
The world may have to turn to God to save itself from climate change, claims one of Britain’s most eminent scientists.
Blutoskitorial:
I hesitated before choosing to post this in the 'science, mathematics, and technology' section, as it's not clear whether May is speaking philosophically or attempting to draw conclusions from research. May is attempting to tie it to evolution, so I decided this was the better section for now.

The Catholic Church under Its present pope is another appalling example, for instance with its declaration that people with HIV shouldn't use condoms.
"People who believe in the End of Days, who believe the world is going to come to an end, don't care about climate change," he said. "I think there is quite a strong connection between the religious right and climate change denial."
So, this means religion is the answer to global warming? How did they get that?
They are telling religious leaders to change their tune? Yeah, that went well for people like Galileo and Darwin. I'm sure things are different now though *giggle snort*

The first thing I thought of was this is going to be some elderly man who has some hypothesis that isn't really supportable. I know I have little to explain what stereotype has formed in my head over these kind of 'elderly' ideas, but I just hope I don't come up with any myself as I get older.

This scientist was born in 1936, according to the Wiki entry, and completed his education in 1959. While he was a professor after that and professors usually stay current in their fields, it would seem this is not the first wacky thing this particular guy has come up with.
Quote:
In 1996, May asked Ig Nobel to stop awarding prizes to British scientists because this might lead the public to treat worthwhile research less seriously.
I would like to see his supporting data for this conclusion. I bet he doesn't have any and formed this opinion from his personal experiences but not from an actual scientific approach. It's unfortunately easy to confuse the two when you have a lot of education and experience.

How do we get from here to there?

How do we restore religion?

How will the religious punishment be applied?

Crazy or loony? Take your pick.

I've heard him talk about a subject I know about. He made no sense then.
