Pro-Browne comments about my stroke?

All:

I have been out oof the loop regarding Browne for more than a year now.

Has anyone heard of any comments made by Browne (or her followers) regarding my stroke? I am aware of none myself, but would not be surprised to learn that they are saying that the stroke was caused by my being a "dark entity," or something similar.

This reminds me of a thread I started awhile back when her book Mystical Travelers came out. She had a whole chapter dedicated to the "skeptics."
Here's a link to that thread:

http://forums.randi.org/showthread.p...rowne+skeptics

Other than that, I haven't heard her say anything. I have a feeling she's got her people back to watching this forum again by now, though.

That in itself is great news!

I didn't read anything about it either.

But in her Psychic Healing: Using the Tools of a Medium to Cure Whatever Ails You (2009) book on page 98:

Quote:
You can use your mind to stop any pain you're dealing with. Think about people who have lost feeling in areas of their body that were affected by a stroke. ...

I hope those people see this thread and are waiting for the next shoe to drop. When it does the fall out will be much bigger because there are many more cases for the media to report on in which Browne charged the families of missing children AND more cases where Browne was useless than what Anderson Cooper could find.

I have to admit to periodically Googling for any such comments and had nto found any in the first 6 months after your stroke. I was both surprised and pleased that I could not find any.

Great to see you back online with us!

There is only one SB forum that still exists. The other two no longer exist. I cannot find any posts that mention you at all. It existed since before your stroke. But then that forum did not discuss many current events.

Just done a search for
"Robert Lancaster" stroke
that appeared in the last year. Got 46 answers. None of them written by SB or her followers. Of course they might have given you another name, in which case it would not appear.

I'm thinking that she would probably prefer not to refer to you at all. If she does, that might lead people to your site and then they might start reading and perhaps thinking about what they've read.
Yeah....I don't think she wants that.

True, but you are assuming that she is logical. Not a safe assumption.

wow! when I got out of the hospital (June 30), there were more than 700 pages found using that search. Dunno what happened to them all... Some of Browne's fans cleverly refer to me as Robert LancAsster, but nothing new with that spelling.

Did the search again, without the date filter and got 672 responses, but only 176 came up by going to the last page. Changing your name to LancAsster only got one response.

That was this thread.

Leaving off the quotes and I got heaps of responses.

I must admit I expected her to take "credit" for the stroke for quite some time.

I'm not sure whether that speaks worse for me or for her.

Were there any pro-Browne comments about James Randi's heart attacks?

It seems like she wouldn't bother drawing any attention to her critics, if she can help it.

Some time ago (a couple of years) when I still got her newsletter she had an article that I forwarded to Randi saying how she and her staff all wished him well and how she had a "hit" on telling him to watch his heart. It was in Randi's newsletter at the time and when he answered my email he said that telling an old man to watch his heart was not such a big "hit."

Definitely. It is still on her web site:

Quote:
J A M E S R A N D I B Y P A S S
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We wish a speedy recovery to James Randi, following his recent heart bypass surgery.
We wish that Randi had paid heed to Sylvia’s warning of impending heart problems when they were on the Larry King Show Sept. 3, 2001.

Randi’s response at the time was that he would have it checked out with his cardiologist, but later denied having any heart problems.

The following Special Announcement was taken directly from James Randi’s website:

Special Announcement – February 16th, 2006
James Randi underwent bypass surgery recently. He is receiving excellent care, but will need quiet time to recover. We will release more information as it becomes available, and we ask everyone to please respect the family's wishes for privacy at this time.

UPDATE: Mr. Randi continues to recover from his recent health challenges. He works each day toward getting better, and therefore he will not be answering e-mail for a while. We will update you as events warrant. Mr. Randi is deeply appreciative of the many kind wishes for his recovery.

From the Larry King Live Transcription
CNN LARRY KING LIVE
Are Psychics Real? Aired September 3, 2001 - 21:00 ET

BROWNE: And -- sorry, here's, here's a very good insight for you. I'm not psychic about me.
But I'll tell you something about you, Randi . You've got to look into your left ventricle in your heart. Now, you can say I'm just full of, you know, whatever, but you've got to check your left ventricle.
RANDI: They've been telling about my kidneys and about my prostate, about my feet, about my heart, my lungs. I'm in very bad shape.
BROWNE: No, no, no, no. No, no, no. No, no. I'm very serious. You've got something wrong in your left ventricle.
RANDI: Yes, well, we'll check it out, and I'll let you know...
KING: Now, what happened when -- as an example, Randi , just as an example, supposing you went to a cardiologist tomorrow, and he said -- this is just hypothetical -- and he says to you, Whew, your left ventricle...
BROWNE: It's all screwed up.
KING: ... we have to look right, something's the matter.
RANDI: I would get back...
KING: What would you then say -- would you then say...
RANDI: I would get back to you immediately, Larry...
KING: You would.
RANDI: ... and I would tell you that it is true. Yes.
KING: And would you then -- would that give you a plus toward maybe Sylvia has something?
RANDI: Well, as a matter of fact, I will call my cardiac surgeon tomorrow, and I will get back to you on e-mail, Larry, or by phone call if you will, and I will give you a complete report on the condition of my heart.
KING: He'll have to see you, though, because this could have happened...
BROWNE: Yes, right.
RANDI: Well, that's true too, yes. OK, I will do that.
BROWNE: You can't just call him up.
KING: All right. We'll take a break, and we'll be right back. Don't go away.

Unfortunately for her, what she said to Robert Lancaster would count more as a curse than a prediction, and she claims not to believe in those.

If I recall correctly, this prediction about James Randi was not actually accurate, though I can't remember which part was wrong.

I recall Randi saying he had previously had some heart problems at that time, although he was fine at that moment.

Oh, it also might have been pertinent to warn 3000+ New Yorkers to "avoid the Twin Towers eight days from now".

The only "warning" against you by Sylvia Browne I recall seeing anywhere on the net is when she said "Someone is going to deal with you" shortly before the security guards asked you to leave the hotel she was working at in June 2008.

Hardly psychic if she or her staff had called just called them!

Yes, she mentions it in at least one of her books, and it was featured on her web site.

Also, if you look at the Swift column for the Friday after Sept 3, 2001, Randi discusses it. there is an article dissecting the whole thing which I hope to have up on StopSylvia sometime soon.

Well, as I said in my TAM7 speech: within an hour of having the stroke, I found myself in the back of an ambulance, on the way to the hospital, and thinking "How long before Browne claims to have predited this?"

Here's mention of the website in the Broward New Times:

Quote:
Sylvia Browne: If I Was Royalty in a Past Life, Why Do I Live in This Dump?
Broward New Times
Sept. 23, 2009
By Jamie Laughlin

... Sure, traditional clergymen might bristle at the idea, but Browne promises to guide you through the enlightenment process -- just as she does on the Montel Williams Show – for the low, non-refundable price of $750 dollars per phone reading.

If that seems a bit out of your budget, you can see her live tonight during her farewell tour at the Seminole Casino in Coconut Creek (5550 NW 40 St., Coconut Creek) for $30. Before you shell for a ticket, read testimonials celebrating her talents at Sylvia.org, and testimonials from individuals who felt emotionally grifted by their Browne experience at stopsylviabrowne.com . To purchase tickets, call 954-977-6700, or visit seminolecoconutcreekcasino.com.
