Help! Windows Protection Suite

I'm running XP, and WPS seems to have been part of an automatic update within the last two or three weeks. It is threatening to take over my computer with warnings almost every 10 minutes, attempts to delete various programs (including SpyBot and anti-virus), and generally making my life miserable. To add insult to injury, it frequently fglashes a notice entitled Free Trial Version, with text saying there is no free trial version. I've found no way to shut it off, delete it or otherwise make it go away.

Help!!!

Google is your friend

Quote:
Windows Protection Suite is a misleading anti-virus application that uses false scan results and fake security alerts to make you think your computer is infected with spyware, Trojans and other malware. The rogue program provides exaggerated scan results and then suggests buying a full version of this fake program to remove non-existing system security threats.
The link contains removal instructions. Good luck!

Sounds like you may want to run M-bam (malwarebytes).
