Why no uproar over Nixon's audacious plans for UHC?
As Nixon came the closest any President has come to achieving UHC, why were there no marches on Washington with the screams that socialism and communism had come to the White House?

As I understand it, wasn't it the auto workers union and another union that basically defeated that plan in the 70's?
It's been kind of bizarre, really, reading about the several attempts to provide universal coverage (of a sort), and the different people knocking it down each time. |
