NPR had a brief report on the conference on Morning Edition, including a brief interview with my old friend Phyllis...
She described "Socialism" as "Obama taking away your money and giving it to his friends."

What is fundamentally (no pun intended) un-American about this conference is the idea of "taking back" America. It smacks of Carl Rove's vision of a permenant Republican majority. Apparently, these people never got the idea that pluralism and a diversity of viewpoints are essential to a democratic society. This, of course means that party majorities will shift back and forth, since a permenant majority would eventually doom any form of republican government. They can't "take back" America, because it simply wan't their exclusive property to begin with. A more apt name for the conference would be "Take Away America," since, in reality, what they want to o is disenfranchise the rest of us.

Meh, It's standard political language for the out-of-power party.

They have been in charge for a long time and still are despite some changes in the federal govenment. Look at thier control of any intelligent discussion of health care reform. Fundies always approach the world as the poor
powerless people of God. If only this were true!

Which, if true, would appear to me (being naive in these matters) to indicate Bush was a socialist for taking our money and passing it on to his friends and those of his bboys Dick and Karl.

First, who is the "saner" Schlafly?

Secondly, Schlaflys are fairly thick on the ground in the St. Louis area. As far as I can tell, many of them are sane, and some of them make good beer (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saint_Louis_Brewery).

Ooo, That is a good beer!
The barley wine is very tasty. Oak aged, and I normally hate oak aging. It usually tastes like you're chewing on wood. But they actually care about balanced flavor.

I'm kind of sad, though, to think that the conservapedia guy's related to the good beer people.

Not all the Schlaflys are super-conservative. Didn't realize one was behind Conservapedia though, although I'm not surprised.
