Glenn Beck starts up the Legaltainment Machine

Ars Technica is reporting that Glenn has gone to the WIPO in Geneva in an attempt to shut down the parody website glennbeckrapedandmurderedayounggirlin1990.com with the claim that the domain violates trademark on his name.

The website creator has dropped annonymity and hired a lawyer to file a response that states:

only an abject imbecile could believe that the domain name would have any connection to the Complainant

It follows up with a history and explanation of internet memes.

What a bizarre act to sue the maker of the website for trademark infringement. Wouldn't it be far more obvious to sue for libel? Or is Glenn Beck afraid the maker of the website actually does have proof that he raped and murdered a girl in 1990?

Do you really think Beck wants to go down that particular road? Safer to pick at somebody in Switzerland who does not have a lot of mone.

I hope the respondent isn't paying too much and found a lawyer who enjoys this as much as he does and is giving him a break! I paid 500 bones for advice once. It was helpful. but still... 500.... ouch
