SkeptiCamp New York City is Coming!

SkeptiCamp arrives at the Big Apple! Come, share that apple of knowledge with us!

The web site and registration for SkeptiCamp NYC 2009 is now open (and, we apologize for the delays).

It is taking place December 6th, 2009
From 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM
At Shetler Studios: 244 W 54th St., New York, NY
You must register in advance, to attend, and space is limited. So, if you want to get in, register as soon as you can!

It's like a science conference, except that the content is provided by the attendees themselves! Anyone who can be in the New York City area, at the given date and time is invited to join and... perhaps even present something for discussion!

It will cost $15.00 to attend, because there are some expenses we have to cover. New York is not, exactly, a cheap city. (But, at least you will get to take home a T-shirt!)

General SkeptiCamp Web Site
More information about SkeptiCamp, in general, can be found here:
http://www.skepticamp.org/wiki/Main_Page

The NYC-Specific Web Site

The official web site, for NYC, is here: http://www.skepticampnyc.org/

Register to attend here: http://www.skepticampnyc.org/skcamp09reg.html

If you would like to be a presenter, please read this: http://www.skepticampnyc.org/PresenterGuide.aspx

Hope some of you can join us!

Check in the morning. Every morning I will manually review the session ideas, before they are shown, so that any abusive ones can be filtered out.

(I could add a CAPTCHA thingy, but that would only filter out robotic spam, not mischievous humans.)

Most likely, yes. It's too early to gauge exactly what the ratio of males to females will be, at this thing. Girls could be anywhere between 2% and 96%, so far.

For most folks, it seems most likely, though it does depend on taste and definitions of the word "hot" (and even "girl") one is using.

Did you think the girls at NECSS were "hot"? It might be a crowd of similar quality, though not nearly as much quantity. Of course, fewer folks in the room means more opportunities to "get to know each other".

A handful. I'll require more if I am to attend this.

Well, then I suppose that just leaves more room for those of us who would rather attend in order to expand our intellectual horizons, and be an active part of the skeptical and science-enthusiast community.

I won't be making this, but I will certainly be at NECSS II, assuming there is one.

Quite a few folks have told me about their proposals in person, but have been slow to submit them on the web site.

I recently updated the page to describe some of them. Hopefully, more will trickle into the actual database, soon.

Last I checked, it was hovering somewhere near 30 or so. I will check again, tonight, to give you an exact number.

But, we are also expecting a few last-minute folks to be popping into the list, that I know of. So, I will have an even better tally next week.

We are now bursting at the seams with, like, 51 registrants!
Whoa!

The registration system is now closing down. There is no more room in the room.
