Quantum Jumping
I keep seeing this ad for something called Quantum Jumping. Today, I decided to click on it out of curiosity. I figured I'd post the link for it here, since I haven't come across any discussions about it in the skeptical community yet.
http://www.quantumjumping.com/lp/subconscious-1?sr=1 In the link below, they quote a bunch of scientists, even a Nobel Prize winner, saying "The real clincher, though, lies in the discoveries of the most intelligent people in the world. Nobel prize winners, Professors, Quantum Physicists—If you can’t trust them, who else is left?" (scroll about a quarter of the way down the page http://www.quantumjumping.com/products I haven't read through all of it yet, but I'm already suspicious. I don't know much about science, however, so I wonder what you guys think...especially about these quotes by "the most intelligent people in the world." I'm going to be honest and admit that I don't know who any of these people are. By the way, has anyone else noticed that almost all the sites that make miraculous claims have almost the same layout? |

I just wasted 5 minutes of my life scanning through that page. I will not waste any more of my time, and I will never ever get that 5 minutes back.
It's crap. But if you want to know how to surf the Multiverse for only $167.00, go for it. Now I have to go and wash my brain out with soap. Norm |

Well, I guess it's as I suspected. I mean, if it really "gives anyone and I mean anyone the ability to consistently accomplish any goal, master any skill, and manifest endless abundance, health and happiness," why is this guy charging almost 200 bucks? Doesn't he already have endless abundance, health, and happiness?
![]() But what I'm interested in is how all of these intelligent, scientifically-minded people are endorsing this product with glowing remarks. This confuses me. |

Ah, now that I take a closer look, I see that these are not testemonials, but quotes from these scientists about parallel universes, etc.
And I admit that it was only a half-serious question. |

I think they covered this on SGU a while ago. Quite a while ago, from memory. IIRC it was one of the first episodes I listened to.

Wow - Completely unimpressed by this huckster...
![]() I wasn't even going to bother with it, but I accidentally Quantum Jumped to Google, where I found all of his 'books' are self published (no talent required). Not much of a revelation I suppose but I really can't be bothered digging any further though I'm sure there's plenty of dirt to be dug on him. Just one more thing, he has come to the attention of sceptics in the past: From the Skeptic's Dictionary Newsletter Enough... |

I jump universes all the time. Unfortunately the decisions that caused these universe to break off from this one were so insignificant that there will be no noticeable changes for thousands of years. I have a suspicion that other Wolrabs from other universes are instantaneously taking my place when I jump so that no one notices. I should write a book....

Pure speculation on my part: it seems to me to be a take off on "The Secret." One of the flaws with that product is that it is hard to explain why young people manifest cancer or violence in their lives. The Secret's writers have said that people who have bad things happen are unconsciously wishing for bad things to happen. The product in the opening post seems to be a way to sell something to the Secret's followers who have not yet manifested "the wealth, creativity, decisiveness, and wisdom" described in the QJ site. The language used to sell both products is very similar.

"transforms anyone— and I mean anyone —into universe-hopping utopian beings, with the ability to consistently accomplish any goal, master any skill, and manifest endless abundance, health and happiness..."
Well k3wL!!! So... why does he have to pedal his CDs at $32+ a pop on the web? Endless abundance not manifesting sufficiently this week? |

I just made a similar comment on the thread about Penrose's book on consciousness, but it fits here (and in the synchronicity thread too).
I think it's funny that these New Agey people invoke quantum weirdness to macro world events when the very reason quantum weirdness is considered weird is that it doesn't happen in the macro world. |
