Thumbs down Local news really pisses me off!

Just trying to enjoy some family guy and release some stress. Local news commericial comes up:

"Local teen is struggling to walk after receiving H1N1 vaccine!!!"

It gets very frustrating when a 15 second commercial undoes reality. Can't wait to hear about this at work tomorrow

Me too! I just got finished watching a piece about H1N1 where they pushed the expert advice of local naturopath. Her advice: don't take Tylenol, a high fever is OK. Take vitamin D and some other various herbs like garlic, and the best advice ever: go to bed with wet cotton socks with wool socks over them.
Thanks guys! So what do the Astrologers have to say about H1N1?

I posted this over in the Conspiracy section, but it is appropriate here.

The offspring got his shot today. Before the shot, the best he had ever walked on his own was 9 steps. After the shot today, he did 11, 12, and even 15 steps on his own.

I should call the local news. You think they will run the story, "Local toddler walking better after receiving H1N1 vaccine"?

Depends how high.

Of course, the other stuff is pretty silly (at least, unrelated).

She said up to 104 Fahrenheit.

For what age?

Actually, strike that. At no age should you let a fever spike that high. For a toddler you can let it go to about 102, but 104? Not even close.

Actually, doctors told us 104 too. Toddlers have higher fevers. Didn't stop us from bringing our daughter to the hospital when she had the 104 fever.

Ugh. Our local paper did an interview with a local naturopath this week who was pushing garlic pills and oils dabbed on the wrists as an alternative to the flu shot. The only question she was asked was not do you have any evidence that works, but rather, does it make your breath smell bad. Not that I expect much from the Gazette's Weekend Life section, which has also done three page articles on Feng Shui and five page spreads on all of the scary scary toxins in our homes, but still ... responsible journalism? Anyone?

The Gazette also published an excerpt from Dr. Joe Schwartz's new book this weekend. Made for an interesting juxtaposition...

I recently had problems using my right hand after a medical professional stumbled onto a quirk in my anatomy when trying to run an IV. I guess I should go to the local news to make sure word gets out about the potential (temporary) nerve damage that IV's can cause. (both my hand and the original medical condition are smoothly on the road to recovery... almost no issues with the hand now.)

Awesome. It would be hilarious to call the news for real though, and see what they say.

The faces of H1N1's Canadian victims

Pigs. Making money off sensationalizing the news instead of actually investigating the facts of a story.
