Donald Duck buys Wolverine

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100101/..._entertainment

I do not believe Wolverine and Magneto will appreciate this merger. I hope Daffy and Mickey can run....very fast.

Daffy Duck?!?!?!? Chuck Jones is spinning in his grave.

Daffy Duck = Warner Brothers

Donald Duck = Disney

Having recently seen Avatar I think the time has come for CGI movies. This means the comic book industry will reap Billions in revenue over the next 10 years IMHO. I can see why Disney made this move.

We had Marvel stock (it was one of the best performing stocks we owned) but we sold it a few weeks after the merger was announced.

Disney has been using Marvel to try to sure up it's boy demographic for years now. Toon Disney, or whatever it's called now, runs like 20 different Marvel cartoons, including at least one original. By buying Marvel, they lock in that boy appeal, which is something that Disney has traditionally struggled with.

There is a huge advantage for Marvel too. Marvel is moving into movies with an insanely ambitious plan, that is, create a super-series of movies based around their Avengers franchises. They have done a pretty good job so far with Iron Man and the Incredible Hulk, but they constantly fighting money and contract problems. Being a part of Disney changes all of that. Not only does Disney have incredibly deep pockets, but it is also one of the most experienced studios in the business. Marvel ain't never had a friend like Disney before.

The thing that strikes me as kinda funny about this deal is Universal has a Marvel themed area in Islands of Adventure. The FTC has ruled that Universal gets to keep the theme park rights to Marvel east of the Mississippi River. However, this means that a prominent part of Universal theme park is actually promoting and paying the competition.

That was never in doubt . When Disney acquired Marvel, Disney also acquired Marvel's contractual obligations.

That is not unusual in the world of entertaiment.if both sides think they will benefit.
Remember that Disney turned the Adventureland Boat Ride in Disneyland
into an Indiana Jones Adventure in a joint venture with Paramount.
