Talking Rapture May 21, 2011

As if the 2012 crap wasn't enough already, a religious "scholar" revealed the "real" date for the rapture...

Aren't there a dozen or so events that need to occur before the rapture? They're all going to occur in 2010?
Wow, it's going to be an interesting year!!!

The number 5, Camping concluded, equals "atonement." Ten is "completeness." Seventeen means "heaven." Camping patiently explained how he reached his conclusion for May 21, 2011.

"Christ hung on the cross April 1, 33 A.D.," he began. "Now go to April 1 of 2011 A.D., and that's 1,978 years."

Camping then multiplied 1,978 by 365.2422 days - the number of days in each solar year, not to be confused with a calendar year.

Next, Camping noted that April 1 to May 21 encompasses 51 days. Add 51 to the sum of previous multiplication total, and it equals 722,500.

Camping realized that (5 x 10 x 17) x (5 x 10 x 17) = 722,500.

Or put into words: (Atonement x Completeness x Heaven), squared.

"Five times 10 times 17 is telling you a story," Camping said. "It's the story from the time Christ made payment for your sins until you're completely saved.

"I tell ya, I just about fell off my chair when I realized that," Camping said.

Reminds me of George (Corndog) Simpson.

All the self rightous holier than thou folks go floating up and disappear. Works for me. Take that Saddlebacker fella, Fred Phelps, His hokiness Darth Ratzinger, take the whole bunch.

Umm, no comment on folks who take legal action on jref.

One who comes to mind is Blaise Pascal. Genius, but what I'd call a true believer: driven to spend all kinds of time and effort trying to prove God. I read Penses today and go huh?, is this the same guy? I just find it sad sometimes. We hear so much about how great belief is, but don't count these lives wasted on nonsense.

What part of "DON'T FREAKIN' LISTEN TO PEOPLE WHO CLAIM TO KNOW THE EXACT DATE!!!111!1!" don't they understand about the Bible? Is this bit ambiguous somehow?

These guys aren't exactly Bible-followers in the first place. Their "facts" about Jesus and dates don't come from the Bible at all.

Is it 1-11-11, or 11-1-11, or 11-11-11?

That begs the question (if I'm using that term correctly): How reliable are the "facts" about Jesus that come from the bible?
