This is not necessarily a good thing to have happened.
The teabagger's self-identification makes it easier to spot the idiots. Also keeping them isolated should ultimately lower their influence on the nation as a whole. We should not want them mixing back in with the general population. |

"rats abandoning a sinking ship" is a derogatory term for placing self-interest over the good of the group. This indicate the opposite--the ship is stranding an idiot rat.
In this case, your bias and hatred is showing. The group is still defining itself, and by abandoning an individual, is indicating that the statements by an idiot are NOT the way the group wants to be known. |

Is he dropping out of the race, or is he still a candidate?
ETA: Oops, I thought we were talking about the guy from New York sending out the racist emails. It's getting so confusing with all the racism flying from the movement that IS NOT BASED IN RACISM. I'm losing track. |

If people distance themselves from racist comments and repudiate the comments, then how are they "rats"? Isn't that exactly what you've been calling on people to do in response to racist comments by people associated with a tea party? To publicly repudiate such comments? I guess your enemies can do no right. I'm shocked.

You are exactly and precisely incorrect. "Rats abandoning a sinking ship" is a metaphor for "You can tell when something is about to fail because large numbers of people begin to leave it." However, and I think this is important for you to realize, EVEN YOU called the guy an idiot. So YOUR bias and YOUR hatred are also showing, Mr. Pot.

Yes. It is. And the abandoners DID do right. I'm not complaining about people's reactions. I'm proudly stating that yet another idiot "leader" of the Tea Party has revealed his true colors. Eventually there will be enough of these comments that people simply won't sign up to attend any Tea Parties because association with them will be unpalatable and politically untenable.
Consider, he said again, that CONVICTED FELON JAMES TRAFICANT refused to attend this event because of the guy's comment. It's becoming a good political move anymore to sign up for a Tea Party event and then drop out. |

Maybe the ship that they are abandoning is not the "USS Teabagger" after all.
