StopColinRoss
With all the Stop sites, why not a Stop site for Dr. Colin Ross?
Sure, Sylvia and Edward and Geller are fakes and promoted woo, and I understand “what is the harm” in that, but good gravy, reports indicate that (Pigasus winner) Ross has not only the potential for harm but has actually HARMED people very significantly and very directly and continues pursuits that could very well potentially continue to harm people. The accusations, actions, and activity of Ross simply make me sick. The damage done and that could be done by the likes of Sylvia and Edward and Geller pale in comparison to the very real and direct and life-long harm that Dr. Ross reportedly has and could do to people. If there is any best Stop site to truly stop the harm, it seems to me the best would be a StopColinRoss site, along with any legal or other action or advice for actions through the Federal Trade Commission or any other Federal, State, or other government agency to ensure that Dr. Ross does not cause harm to anyone, or benefit from the harm he has caused anyone, as he has reportedly done in the past. STOP COLIN ROSS FROM HARMING ANYONE

I have changed all the tags. This shows that there are several threads about the person.
The only person who runs a stop site is still recovering from a stroke. No one else is willing to take on the task. Any other issues? |

Why not indeed. Feel free to start it at your earliest convenience. StopXXX sites are best done by those who are passionate about stopping a particular person or organization, so you seem like a likely person to do this site. Good luck. I can't wait to see it in operation.

If I knew how to stop Colin Ross I would.
So far he has managed to pay his way out of every lawsuit and has put gag orders on the patients who settled. His former employers are pretending that he never worked for them or that he was only a consultant. The licensing boards protect their members like an old boys club and never truly investigate anything. The government won't get involved because Ross has only killed psych patients, apparently allowable. The press won't get involved unless it involves some one important and not a circus freak show. So good luck, and I will always help if I can. http://sites.google.com/site/memoryabuse/petition |

To learn how to stop him, see the sites that aim to stop Sylvia Browne, Kaz, and VisionFromFeeling. The links can be found in my signature. The gold standard is the StopSylvia.com site, which takes a calm, rational, and objective perspective, and lays out the claims and then rationally and critically dissects them, showing the errors and fraudulent statements as dispassionately as possible. This makes for a more believable site, and it is harder to argue against the information when there is no obviously biased statements to point to. Since you seem to have the passion, and the knowledge about this person, you seem to be the most logical person to put this site together.

I'm currently in a living hell that leaves me too stressed to do that,
however I have sent several boxes of documents, several video tapes, cassettes and a pile of books down to Doug Mesner. There is also another person who feels just as strongly as I and has all of the same information, he is also working on a book about Ross. Problem is we all have tried for almost twenty years to stop Ross, and it has been so frustrating that it is all I can do to discourage that other person not to just shoot him. The False Memory Syndrome Foundation is doing a pretty good job of discrediting Ross and all of his colleages. The FMSF Scientific Advisory Board contains many of the world's most highly regarded doctors and academics (and Randi's on that board). We need a politician to get involved. Sonny Bono was until he died in that skiing accident. Unfortunately what I've experienced is that if you argue Ross' recovered memory and trauma therapies then the crazies in the so called "feminist" organizatons, many of which are funded by government, start accusing you of being a pedophile so that would be politial suicide. I'll think about it though, maybe I'm just really tired today and might feel stronger later. |

This thread raises a question for me. Is it a good idea to have a list of things that should be, or needs to be, or is requested to be done? Like DA suggests someone should start a site, maybe he doesn't have the time or web savvy to do it himself.
Meanwhile, he might have skills to accomplish something else that he doesn't realize would benefit the skeptical community, because he has not thought of it himself. Would it be a good idea to have a sticky thread of all the ideas people come up with for advancing the skeptical community? Actions that are requested, like commenting on various news articles, or voting for people's pets and children (not quite a skeptical advancement, but helping other skeptical forum community members) could be listed out like craigslist. |
