The story here is interesting as well. I find very little to be objectionable here; even as a liberal agnostic I recognize that belief in God (or a god, or gods) can have a transformative effect on one's psyche and emotions. Here the walking hairy terror known as "Bad Bob" finds Jesus after a harrowing near-death experience, and evidently changes his ways for the better. This is not a bad thing.

Taken in and of itself, irrespective of Chick's numerous other profoundly absurd morality tales, I find that this one has a ring of truth even in the midst of its corny, hamfisted melodrama.
Jack Chick isn't all bad. His story abot a christian rescuing a Muslim after the muslim was beaten nearly to death showed a humane side to this quirky individual. My main objection to this man is his depictions of humans on fire for what I perceive to be minor faults. Religion is a hard pill to swallow especially when so much scientific evidence points in the opposite direction.

Still this man has a talent. Despite the fact that I disagree with most of what he says I find his ability to illustrate his ideas and get his tracts distributed is an accomplishment that I personally cannot do.

As I've asserted elsewhere, Chick himself does not draw the tracts himself. He has hired an extremely talented professional to illustrate them. The early tracts were crude and poorly drawn, and there are others done in a cartoony style that does not match the expert realism of the "Bad Bob" and "Dark Dungeon" strips.

Just sayin'.

"Whether you know it or not, we all deserve to burn in hell." How can christians pass these out with a smile on their face? I also thought "Bob, god gave you a second chance" part was funny seeing as it was the jailor that let him out, maybe he thought he was god?

How familiar are you with these tracts? They to me are an open window into the mind of a fanatic who enjoys envisioning people in hell. He has several illustrations that show that very thing on in Doom Town which shows people with fire all over them.

How do you know he enjoys envisioning people in hell? Maybe because he doesn't enjoy envisioning people in hell he feels compelled to do these tracts? But then again - maybe not.

How would we know what he thinks?

Has Jack Chick ever done any interviews that anyone knows of?

For all we know he might be some sort of opportunistic athiest laughing all the way to the bank as he gets Christians to buy his little comic books and have them do free marketing for him....

He's been around too long for that. He would have been exposed by now if he wasn't a member of his own sect of christianity. Like I said in another post except where a kid is running into Jesuses arms we never see Heaven but we see hell all the time.

I don't dispute many Christians have a fascination with hell (or the end times for that matter).

But - does anyone know where Jack Chick even goes to church?

For being such a popular person he seems to be pretty good at secrecy.

Maybe he's an independent.

read his Wiki page. Not a whole lot there. But there is a good picture of him.

The scary part is there's a lot of people out there who think the kind of thinking used in these tracts is acceptable. Even preferable.

Jack Chick is a rouge even among fundys although I can't understand why. They say pretty much the same things he does. Maybe they think cartooning the bible is a sin??

That's pretty standard Trinitarian theology. That Jesus always existed as one with the father (and the Holy Ghost thing).

I think it's funny that Chick condemns Mohammed for having concubines and slaves. None of that stuff ever happened in Jerusalem, of course....

He plucked out his eye because it offended him.

Either that or he felt guilty for passing along bad genes to Lil' Susy Bugeyes there.

I like the Muslim mom suggesting she and her kids had something pretty final to do at the airport. Yeah, that wasn't an accident. Chick slips crap like that in there occasionally. It's hard to make your own hate-filled propaganda even nastier, but he manages to surpass himself from time to time.

I did wonder why they had to leave when they so were close to getting a couple of converts.

Ok here we have a woman who turns in her cross to a man who speaks about idols. I bet hed really go ballistic if I showed him my rabbits foot.

I like how the grandpa asks if she's told them about Jesus. Why do fundies think that the only reason people aren't Christian is that they haven't heard of Jeezus? It's pretty ing arrogant of them.

I completely didn't even notice that at all. I was too distracted by the crazy hair of the preaching guy. Is he a famous composer or something? Who has hair like that? Oh well, at least it wasn't an eyepatch like Lil' Suzy's grandpa.
