It's about time, Obama! Finally, you grow a pair!

Obama gave a great speech today punching the GOP right between the eyes. He pointed out that it was the GOP and it's ideology that led to the great recession. That it was their economic policies that we tried that brought our country to the toilet. He pointed out that they want to implement the same, failed policies again if they get into power. The GOP is the reason the democrats have had a very hard time getting anything done. That despite this, the DNC has done quite a bit.

It's about time, President. I hope you keep this up, as we need your leadership to keep the party of no out of office and to keep this country on it's upward trend. We need you to remind the people that it was the GOP who wrecked the car but is trying to blame the accident on the DNC. To remind the people that the GOP should not have the keys again until they learn responsibility. Thank you, Obama, and do NOT take your fighting gloves off.

It's a call to NOT re-live what the GOP sent us through. I don't want to do that again. Do you?

Incrementally better than "compassionate conservatism" or whatever other nonsense slogan the last administration threw at us.

Unemployment was on a downward trend when Bush left. It's on an upward trend now. Try again, Cic.

When Bush was in office, we were comfortably seated in a car speeding directly towards a brick wall.

But now that Obama is in office, our car has crashed.

Thanks a lot Obama!

And it was not until after he was packing his bags that we realized how badly the Shrub had screwed up the ecconomy.

Accounting trick. They didn't include the money that the Shrub was stuffing down the rat hole in Iraq. Not to worry too much. One of Shrubby's biggest dirty tricks runs out in a couple months and the fat and useless class will have to start paying reasonable taxes again. that and the stand-down in Iraq should help.

Don't be silly. Obama has done absolutely nothing!! *sarcasm*

But seriously there's still some people out there that have the nerve to claim Obama has done "nothing". I wonder how much he has to do before his opponents admit he has done "something" (regardless if they agree with what he's done or not).

A "major" victory would involve embracing that we were wrong to go in the first place.

For me, this speech and increasingly more of the WH words sound like electioneering, whereas the actions of WH lawyers and administration policy decisions seem a little too much like Bush-lite for my tastes and rational thoughts,...but worse, and a little bit less worse are about the only candidates the media will allow to compete for our votes, or so it seems.

And that's why we have to keep the tax cuts for the top 2%, right?

...right?

Face it, "Conservative" Republicans only care about budget deficits when they're not setting the legislative agenda. Once they win the White House they inevitably increase the size of government and run massive deficits.
It happened under Reagan. It happened under Bush II and it'll happen under the next Republican president, whoever that may be.

ahhh, now I understand the extraordinary (probably) fox-fueled rant by a right wing facebook friend. Here's just a part of his comments -

Obama has done all he could to take over American Financial institutions by forcing them to take bailouts even when several of them didn't want to, so the government had controling interest in their businesses. Same with the Auto industry and Health Care.

You don't have to delve too deep into Obama's history to see who his heros are. Most if not all are radicals, either Socialist or Communist. You can look at his friends; Ayers and Dorn, George Soros, Chavez, Castro, Chicago thugs, Jerimiah Wright, the Unions. Too many to name here.

His goal is to destroy America and all I can hope is that Americans will wake up and tell him to go to Hell. Fire his ass and the other Liberal democrats in Washington and replace them with people that LOVE America and want to see us be great like we once were.

Less Government, Less Regulations. Let the States run their states and Local governments run Local issues. Obama is about as EVIL as they come. The sooner he is gone, the better.

I'm not sure which part I found the most astounding.

Probably the idea that George Soros is a radical socialist/communist.

WRONG! The first year was with the Shrub's budget and the second year he was still saddled with the moron's tax-giveaways to the super-rich while everybody else's ability to pay taxes went down the toilet with their jobs.

We are suffering the after-effects of a cancer just recently removed. Recovery takes time.

It doesn't take a lot of brain-power that figure out the duplicity of claiming someone has done nothing, and has done it all wrong, in the same breath, but people don't generally use reason when it comes to politics, its emotion and personal subjective opinions and beliefs. For most, its not what a person actually does/has done, its what they stand for, or claim to stand for. Scary stuff.

Starting with a pretty good surplus, Bush had eight years to set the direction of the economy, much of it with both houses in GOP hands. Obama has had less than two years to try and get it back to some semblance of the shape it was when Bush took over. Things are better, but not good. At least we're out of the death spiral we were in at the end of 2008. But the Democrats will pay anyway. The American People are not known for their long memories, a fact that the GOP will exploit. The Dems trying to remind us of why we're here in the first place won't work. That's just politics.

Never met the guy in real life, we have some common business interests. I regularly come close to removing him on FB, but I think he plays a useful role in helping me understand the divorced from reality nature of US politics.

Hitchens will probably find reality astounding if he ever sobers up.
I'm sure the cancer stricken Hitch will appreciate your advice.

Christopher Hitchens found the above part astounding.
Michelle Obama isn't president and Jeremiah Wright isn't relevant.

Given that Hitchens is dying of esophageal cancer, the primary cause of which is excessive alcohol consumption, it's probably advice he should have taken.
No disrespect to Hitchens, but he really made his own bed.

This all-or-nothing game you're playing is pretty tiresome. Every president from Reagan to Obama deserves a share of the blame for the current recession. We can argue over who deserves the biggest share, but to say that just because GWB is no longer president, he shouldn't figure into the discussion is really dishonest.

Anyone who thinks it only takes 19 months to completely make or break a countries economy doesn't know much about economics.

Well, I suppose you could break it in that time
