Yahoo email
it is taking five minutes for a page to turn in yahoo email. I think I may have a virus as it only started doing this a few days ago. Everything else to do with this PC is fast and no problem. I have run....Ad-aware. Spybot and Search, Spyblaster and I also have Zonealarm. When I booted up this morning, the Windows update page came up and I downloaded its recommendation of securing Internet explorer Browser. Any ideas?

You can get Mozilla from their website
It's worth the effort and shouldn't make any difference to your cable co. You don't remove Internet Explorer when you install another browser you just have two. So if you have problems with the second, just stop using it. Graham |

well. I downloaded mozilla and it is weird. Each time I want a web I type it and click on search and it puts me to google and I then have to select again. Plus when i want another section of JREF a window comes up asking do i want the page.
It took over one minute to get onto the net whereby explorer takes seconds. Is this normal? BTW I did detect and get rid of a virus in the yahoo email thanks. I did that with panda anti virus |

Max- Google "OPERA" and "Firebird". Alternative browsers.
Try and see what you like best. |

Sure, there is. Just go into Add/Remove Programs and remove it as normal.
I have no idea why you're experiencing the behavior you are. I use Mozilla here all the time with no problems. |

Max- yes, both can be uninstalled via the usual windows remove software method.
Opera downloads fsar faster if you don't need Java. Safer without it in my opinion. |

Thanks everybody. I have uninstalled Mozilla as I just didn't like it plus the red logo it has took over all 'My Documents' even pictures I've had stored for a couple of years had this Mozilla icon.
I did a virus scan prog using Pandasoftware and it found and destroyed 20 viruses altogether in the system. There was just one of them in the email and that's gone now , so the service is speedy again. |

This is just an association in the Windows registry telling Windows what program to use to open what types of files. It has not modified your actual files in any way at all. |

Shanek
Thanks. I'm too much of a novice to understand these things and so I can't start changing things, and in any case my memory is getting that bad now, that I can't remember where everything is and which prog I use to change things, so it's best that I use the simplist system I can. Thanks Shanek anyhow for putting my mind at rest. I thought Mozilla was going to be as bad as MSN as that takes over everything |

if you are going to continue using IE, i would suggest getting the Google pop-up blocking toolbar, if you haven't already.

Thanks Edi, yes I did do the google bar because De_bunk recommended it on another thread, I think it was on the community board. I have Ad-aware too, does that do the same thing?
