No need for all this invasive airport security

Easy solution to all this nonesense: just allow people to go through a thorough pre-flight background check prosess, so we know you are not a threat to security.

Didn't we already have a system like this in place years ago...that allowed folks to go through a pre-flight background check weeks and months before their flight? That way when they got to the airport, all they had to do was prove their identity, and bang....you go through wish just a metal detector.

I'm happy to have the TSA do a background check on me, so that I can jump through security and avoid the anal/testicular probe. I already had a NYPD background check years ago and came through just fine.

Yes, I felt very safe after those background checks. All those six-month old terrorists on the no-fly list. Never know when you might get gummed to death.

1) The costs would be prohibitive if they do real background checks rather than just querying criminal and credit databases.
2) If they're just querying databases, how are they going to turn up terrorists? They're not the sort of criminals who start out torturing small animals then move up through escalating levels of violence. It's usually about a [stupid] ideology and their "big crime" might be the only one they ever commit.
3) I don't want a bunch of sods who barely graduated high school digging through my background and putting that information in their database just because I want to go on a trip.
4) See #3 for emphasis.

Much as I dislike them on principle, intrusive body and luggage searches make more sense than background checks.

What's wrong with just handing out a ceramic knife to each passenger?

Too logical, also difficult to charge taxpayers thousands of dollars per knife. Gotta be proprietary or no one gets rich, and then what would be the point?

You've hit upon the real reason for the TSA screenings: it's a conspiracy by nudists to have their agenda pushed on everyone!

I believe the pre check would not solve anything. The current regulation is acceptable at my point of view, as long as the checker is not a perv

If you meant the CAPS I criteria, they were not a background check, they jsut looked at the history of the pax. If he paid CC, and flew business with baggage, he had a positive (no need for further inspection) score. But if you flew with cash, without baggage, eco, you had a negative score (flag him for rectal inspection).

much, much too easy to game.
