I'm a Browser Skeptic! Is Mozilla Firefox...

...really faster than any other browser?

I've been testing it out and to me it seems faster, but that could be the placebo effect for all I know.

Does anyone have any data to back up or refute this claim? Is this so much electronic snake-oil, or is it truly a Quicksilveresque webfront?

I couldn't say for sure if it is faster than ALL other browsers, but it isn't half bad. It's certainly fast enough for my tastes and requirements, anyway.

Really, the limitations for browser "speed" stem far more from communications issues and straight CPU grunt than the code base and exe optimisation. You can get any dog-of-a-browser to run faster than Firefox if you put it on a lightning-box of some sort with a T2 Internet connection.

Caution: There is no evidence to back up the following opinion below...

Of the browsers I've tried (or remember trying), I rank browser speeds in this order:
Lynx
Internet Exploror
Firefox/Firebird
Opera
Mozilla

First or last is fastest?

For someone bullied into using Explorer since Micro$oft outperformed Netscape, do the others work 100% with all websites?
