Sai Baba dead
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-south-asia-13180011
Or is he? It's Easter; maybe he's planning a spectacular second coming. In any event it doesn't seem to be quite the right time yet. He did say he would live to be 95 (or 96, or 92, 93, etc.) http://www.saibaba-x.org.uk/1/howlong.html |

If he goes for the resurrection hoax I will be impressed. Then it could be said that he performed all the same miracles as Christ. (Well, not exactly water into wine, but water into gasoline, clearly a man of the times)
Yeah I guess two Sai Baba threads on the go wasn't quite enough. He certainly deserves a serious wallop of disdain on this day. Now that we have three no one visiting can possibly miss the news! Here's to exposing his crimes to the world! May he be the last superguru. |

He was 84, I think it was just the ravages of old age, a chest infection and renal failure.

Judging by the articles and comments I've seen today this ***** got away with it. Even at sites usually critical of obvious cons people are apologizing for his good works. The level of understanding of how cults work is just shockingly low everywhere, obviously. I've taken the liberty to briskly update these dimwits on the reality of his crimes, but I can't spam the entire internet in one day unfortunately.
It doesn't matter how many freaking hospitals and orphanages a fraudulent, child-abusing sociopath builds! |

Premenand, Indian arch-skeptic, once took him to court for magically producing gold Rolexes, charging:
1. Importation of gold without a license. 2. Violation of Rolex trademarks for producing copies without authorization*. The judge, IIRC, bailed pathetically, claiming something along the lines of courts having no power over miracles**. * Note that God producing a "real" Rolex, as opposed to a "real" Rolex knock-off, is still a violation. ** Ironically, that would be true, if gods and miracles were real. However, people using acts of gods to import gold or violate trademarks are definitely under the court's jurisdiction. Clearly Sai Baba was requesting these things appear and not having them just miraculously show up, unasked. And even if they showed up, unasked, they should be seized***. Actually, if the god made a "real" Rolex, provenance tracing should be attempted to see if the God conjured it up out of nothingness, picked up a lost one down a sewer somewhere, bought it at a store, or stole it from some unlucky soul elsewhere. Two of those holy activities are illegal.*** But only for trademark violation. Importation of gold or products should not be banned nor bannable, barring a decision by the legislature to refuse to deal with countries with literal, not figurative, slave labor. |

Think of Dorothy's landing in the land of Oz (in the movie):
Ding-dong, Sai Baba's dead! He's so dead - dead, dead, dead. He's so dead, as dead as dead can be! |

One of my closest friends at work is a huge devotee to Sai Baba, and was quite devastated. When she told me the news the other day, I just consoled her and kept my mouth shut about his obvious magical trickery. How do people fall for that? Haven't they seen a hundred different stage magicians do the exact same tricks?
