Oo, I so wish they sold those in Washington DC. I'm going there for vacation in 3 weeks.

I am betting you can get one on ebay in a few weeks. I don't think that you can just contribute and get one as you are not a citizen and we have rules.

In fact I don't think it would be legal for me to order you one and let you pay me back as you have to swear you are not funneling in any foreign money. (Or I would.)

So they are buying a lie about their buying a lie?

Wait...

We are talking about marketing to the hard core whacko fringe of the left, right? So it's sort of a under optimization of commercial potential, kind of like Air America.

I've not being following this particular nonsense, but was he really made in the USA? He was born in the USA, but Springsteen nabbed that slogan first. Where was Obama conceived? Do we know?

You know, we need a version of "Godwin" to apply to inappropriate and gratuitous references to the USSR, probably the third or fourth most evil state ever to blight this planet. Seriously.

If it's meant as a joke, it is in poor taste because, well, Gulags were brutal and inhumane. It's in poor taste because Stalin was a monster.

(How much of a monster, you might ask? I was told this by a Soviet defector; Stalin wanted an atom bomb. Processing the plutonium required many milling steps, and it had to be milled to great precision. In the USA, we built machining stations that could be operated remotely from behind thick lead glass and similar things; But these took time to develop and slowed everything down. So Stalin simply ordered machinists to be taken from where ever they were and sent to the camp where this work was being done, and they worked on unprotected machines. In the course of a shift, they would take on a large enough dose that many were in bone marrow collapse. Dead or alive they were taken into a truck (also by unprotected workers) and dumped down a disused mine shaft. The next day, there was a new group of workers.)

So, it probably better not be a joke.

And if it is meant seriously, well read the above again. If you think there is a comparison, you will need to defend that point of view.
