What would happen if...

...when you died, you found out an afterlife really did exist, but it was nothing like any described in religions? Doesn't matter if you don't believe that will happen -- I'm just asking, what if it did... A hypothetical.

I dunno. What would happen? There's no way of guessing what would happen next unless we know what this hypothetical afterlife is like.

What I would do depends on what kind of afterlife it was. Say if I died, and I discovered an afterlife of partying in a Viking mead hall...or if I died and the afterlife was working in an automobile factory...

Aw man, I hope not. The odds of me dying honorably in battle surrounded by the corpses of mine enemies are pretty much nil, which means my soul would have to be devoured by Ymir.

That would suck.

Well, then, I would certainly have to remember not to engage Lucifer's coal-comets in any merry races. They cause nothing but trouble.

I suppose you would just have to deal with whatever you were faced with.

I would update my belief in the proposition "an afterlife exists".

Well, my first thought would be "Really, there is an afterlife? This changes everything!" and then I would be surprised that it didn't include Rowan Atkinson dressed as the Devil.

Okay, umm, atheists.. atheists?.. over here please, you must be feeling a right bunch of nitwits?.. looks so.. never mind. And finally Christians, Christians?.. ah yes, I'm sorry, I'm afraid the Jews were right. If you could come down here, that would be really kind. Thank you.

On a slighly more serious note, I think I wouldn't be very surprise over what kind of afterlife it was, considering there as so many versions of it it's hard to imagine one exactly. More important is if it's an afterlife I can live (hah..) with, or a horrible one.

Imagine afterlife like this : you can observe for all enternity whatever corner of the universe you want instantely, or human (or alien) endeavior, but alone, and you can never ever make your presence known or communicate, essentially watching a 3D film.

I am torn as to whether this would be horrible or incredibly good.

And people claim that there's no point in learning sword fighting.

I'd have to say horrible, but still better than nothing.

It would depend upon the nature of that afterlife, but overall, I'd be surprised (unless the nature of that afterlife precluded feelings of surprise).
