Freemen are just getting greedy (also stupider)

So this guy, Darryl James Swanson, calls up several government agencies to tell them he wants to kill the entire Obama family. Naturally he is arrested. And now they think he's insane.

What was he so mad about?
Quote:
The day after the call to the AP, Swanson told Secret Service agent Ronald Brown that he made the call because he was frustrated that the president has not sent him a check for $70 million, which he claims he is owed from a trust fund set up at his birth, court documents show. Brown told him that no trust fund exists.
So...........these people think this magic check will just get sent to them? Yeah. I think they are insane too. It will be interesting to see what the psych evaluation says.

Mert Rockney Jr., a friend of Swanson's family, said his disheveled pal has struggled with mental issues.

"Darryl's harmless," Rockney said. "He just needs to have someone to intervene with him so he takes the right medication."
Ya think?

So Canadian citizens have trust accounts of $40 million each. Where's my money?

I told Menard that the popularity of the freeman movement would be its undoing.
We now have more crackpots trying to use it and the crafty old fox Menard has disappeared off the internet to live in the woods.
I predict the disappearance of Menards videos and youtube sites shortly as he distances himself from the potential media glare.

i'm not sure about him disappearing, he loves the attention. The only reason for him being off the internet,i would wager, is he can't pay his provider and they've cut him off. Or maybe he's actually claimed his 40 million and is living in a yacht moored in Montecarlo.

Its the attention of the authorities that he's avoiding, not his adoring fans.
He is now intrinsically linked to freeman on the land and as such any mainstream reporters looking into this will see his name pop up and he will be investigated.
Once hes dragged in by the authorities and his idiotic refusal of consent is exposed to all with him on the receiving end then he has no where to go.

Being picked up and questioned as to his involvement in the sovereign movement is the last thing he wants.

Which is why I have been spreading the word of his exploits all over the web including law enforcement websites for the last 2 years.
He has helped my cause no end by joining in the debates on Ickes and providing mountains of anecdotal evidence that he is indeed involved up to his armpits.

I'm sure Menard will, now he has fleeced enough money off his gullible followers for his allotment, simply tell the authorities "it was all for entertainment value only... look I even have disclaimers saying so"

Either that or it'll be a shoot-out at Menard-Gardens between the authorities and him and his imaginary police force.

Thanks bob, I have enjoyed your posts along the way.
The thing is if Menard had simply answered a few questions two years ago rather than being insulting and evasive I would probably not have bothered with him.
He still likes to think I am some government agent sent to plague him when in reality Im just some bloke who saw one of his videos and wanted a few points clearing up.
Once he was arsy then I made it my mission to expose him to as many people as I could, and he actually thought I was being helpful

what a "Menard"

I believe the term in this case should be 'Grand Menard' to raise it above just a common Menard

I think in this particular case we have someone who might be displaying symptoms of mental illness [DISCLAIMER: I am not a doctor. I am not diagnosing this man. I am merely speculating that a psych eval might be the proper course of action]. That being said, I will agree with the OP. There seems to be a shortage of people who, upon being told that X million dollars is available for the asking, never approach the person making the claim and say, "how's chances of my seeing your multi-million dollar bank account?" They don't teach critical thinking in schools.

The other aspect of this story I find fascinating is the exact dollar amount. I remember 20 years ago when people talked about a mere million dollar birth bond. Now it is up to $70 million.

Does Professional BS Artist Menard have an opinion on birth bonds?

Oh yes, he believes they exist and are worth $8 million.
He doesn't want to access his as he would rather have the stock option than the cash.
Thats stock options in a society he doesn't acknowledge exists ( go figure)

He once mention in one of his videos about accessing it and someone in the crowd asked him when, he said he just had to find time to complete the paperwork, that was over two years ago.
Must be some complicated process, Im sure I would have completed it when there was $8 million sitting there just waiting to be claimed.

Menard has an opinion on everything. Unfortunately his opinions are as scammy as a scam-town scam-rat.

Like all pedlars of this scam Menard will tell you <insert youtube link to one of his "seminars" here> that your birth certificate has a number on it which you can track on the stock exchange to see what your value is.

(I cannot be arsed searching for said video, but he's in someone's garden. Mrmitee is his youtube cess-pit)

ETA: Menard YouTube Birth Bond Nonsense
Menard enters at approx 1:25
Take note of how he ignores the person who presents a birth certificate that doesn't have the super secret magic number.

ETA2: Part2
@4:31 in Part2 Menard openly lies about the scam he is promoting.

Part3
@2:20 He blatantly lies yet again.

It was just a matter of time before someone took this Freeman stuff way too far. Thank goodness this was just a guy making threatening phone calls.

"My" FOTLer has gone seriously off the rails recently. S/he started out with just a minor offence, nothing serious at all, but s/he has since snowballed into full-fledged FOTL nonsense, stopped insuring his/her vehicle, ended up losing his/her vehicle through impoundment and failing to pay the impound fees, has since amassed thousands of dollars in unpaid fines, has lost his/her driver's licence as a result, has stopped paying his/her rent and other bills (because his/her "bond" via his/her birth certificate should be utilized to pay his/her bills) and is being evicted from his/her home, and then s/he went to the courthouse and said things to court staff that fall only a hair's breadth short of threatening (references to coming to the courthouse with a gun), has been visited by the police as a result, and is soon to be jailed for the outstanding fines and such. This person, as a result of buying into the FOTL nonsense has not only lost his/her vehicle and is not only about to be evicted from his/her government subsidized home, but is also going to end up in jail for a considerable period of time for contempt of court among other things.

Those who espouse (and sell) the FoTL nonsense should be ashamed of themselves. I feel sorry for "my" FoTLer to a certain extent because I recognize mental illness when I see it and his/her mental illness is being exploited by the FoTL crew, but all I can do is shake my head and when it comes to the point of threatening court staff, my sympathy evaporates entirely.

This isn't going to end well at all. This person is going to end up losing everything s/he ever had, and end up homeless (notwithstanding his/her belief s/he can just check into the local Sheraton hotel and sign off the bills to his/her "birth certificate bond" to be paid by the federal government on account of his/her "birth certificate bond" and other such nonsense - we all know how that will turn out). The reality is that this person is going to go to jail and when s/he gets out of jail, all of his/her belongings will be long gone, sold for debts owed, etc., and s/he will never recover from this BS.

All because of people like Menard and others who try to sell their particular brand of woo to the mentally incompetent.

It's really, really sad.

How popular is it though? "freeman on the land" doesn't get enough searches to show up in google trends. People only search for Freeman on the land on wikipedia about 120 times a month:

http://stats.grok.se/en/latest/Freeman_on_the_land

Thats less than say cash gifting

http://stats.grok.se/en/latest/Cash_gifting

A Pyramid scheme that has long since passed its peak.

We just now got a Menard's where I live, and so I did not know the history of the store...including any spokesmen in the past. Heck given their commercials I could have sworn they were a newer local place. Weird things I learn here.

And incomprehensible.

Being married for many years to someone who now espouses a raft of beliefs similar to those described above I still cannot fathom the mix of tortured logic, wholesale denial and black/white view of the world (you're for me or against me) seemingly required to maintain such a position. It looks to be a one-way journey too; a sort of one-upmanship of how much of what goes on around can be blamed on Them.

Well, I had to leave the computer a few minutes ago to take a Menard. It wasn't Grand so I just flushed it. I suspect anyone taking a Menard should also remember to flush afterward.

Shouldn't this be in the "FOTL success stories" thread?

Oh hell, my daughter managed all that PLUS four nights in jail because she didn't have proof of insurance. Then her car was repoed from the impound lot. I had co-signed on the loan so I have scraped up the money needed to get it out of repo because I could really use the car. When driving through her town I plan to put a sign in the back window that says, "I'm not (her name)" because the cops know her car and a yellow Focus is hard to hide.

No FOTL beliefs needed, just an idiot who was embarassed to tell people she's an idiot and needed some help.

As will be my gripping outdoor adventure "Up Menard Creek Without a Paddle".

PS, there is a Menard Creek in Texas just in case anyone is thinking I make this stuff up.

As a matter of fact, there's a whole town named Menard. Kind of a nice little town in the Texas Hill Country.
