LHC in the RED BULL CONTEST, by Guglinski

In the begginning of 2010 Red Bull had promoted a contest in Brazil.

Guglinski contributed with the advertisement ahead, where he showed that Red Bull could help finding the Higgs boson in the LHC.

any semelhançan with the current status of the LHC is a mere coincidence... ha ha ha

I guess you can call the humor. If you stretch it a lot .

I would consign it to the crackpot subforum if it existed.

Yes, I was being generous describing it as "humor".

Conspiracy Theories perhaps? What with pedrone's belief that everyone is suppressing his favourite crackpottery.

The carton implies that Guglinski is under the impression that the LHC would detect the Higgs particle immediately.
This is something no competent scientist expects.
This is a sad reflection on Guglinsk's knowledge of physics.

However as humnor it is funny.
This thread should be moved to the Humor section since it contains no science, mathematics, medicine or technology.

Guglinski's prophecy in 2010:
Red Bull will launch this advertising at the beginning of 2012, when the experiences of Large Hadron Collider will confirm, in definitive, that the Higgs boson does not exist ( the “particle of God” which the physicists had tried to find )

Guglinski is indulging in wishful thinking.
It is expected that the LHC will have collected enough data by the end of 2012 to either
  • Confirm the existence of the Higgs particle or
  • Rule out the existence of the Higgs particle.
Assuming that the Higgs particle does not exist before the data is collected and analysed is crackpottery of the deepest kind.

Either result will be a resounding success for physics. FIlling out the Standard Model with a Higgs boson would be great. Not finding one that fits in the Standard Model in some senses is even better\ since this means some of the more estoeric theoris could be right.

No, it's not.

Actually it's a predicton of the best kind

Just because it's a prediction based on the fact that quantum mechanics is wrong, the standard model is wrong, and quantum field theory is wrong.

This will be evident in 2012, when Andrea Rossi's E-Cat will start to work in several places of the world

And then probably Red Bull will put Guglinski's advertisment in TV

To look for something that does not exist is not real science, mainly because other experiments show that current theories are wrong, as for instance cold fusion.

Real science is doing by Andrea Rossi

NEW EXPERIMENTS DISCARD SUPERSYMMETRY

Recent findings of Jony Hudson (ImperialCollege, London) and Aaron E. Leanhardt (University of Michigan, Ann Arbor) about the spherical shape of the electron and the absence of electron’s electric dipole moment, which – at least at the current state-of-the-art experimental precision – seem to work against the supersymmetry theory.

“What’s interesting is that the electron is so round it is becoming difficult for theories like supersymmetry to explain it,” said Hudson, whose finding ALREADY rules out the existence of some supersymmetric particles. … The findings, published in the journal Nature, already rule out some kinds of particles that theories suggested could pop into existence at the Large Hadron Collider at Cern, the European particle physics laboratory near Geneva.

Does somebody remember what are the 3 goals of the LHC ?

Let's remember them
1- To find the Higgs boson
2- To find the supersymmetric particles, so that to confirm supersymmetry
3- To confirm superstrings

As usual I don't think that the nature article says what you think it says, see you in December.

now are you reading my thoughts ?

But I did think nothing

And I did say nothing

I just posted here a comment said by Jony Hudson, the author of the paper published by Nature.

If you think Jony Hudson is saying something that Nature article does not say...

... or if in your opinion Jony Hudson is thinking something that Nature article does not say...

... then please tell it to Jony Hudson...

...but not to me

And why do you want to see me in December ?

Do you think Jony Hudson can change his mind in December ?

Where in the world did you get that?

The goal of the LHC has always been to discover the origin of electroweak symmetry breaking, which is probably the Higgs.

The one thing we know for certain is that something new happens at around the energies probed by LHC. It could be nothing more than the Higgs, or it could be the entire zoo of new particles predicted by low-scale supersymmetry. No one knows, and that's why they're doing the experiment.

It is a prediction from an ignorant crank who has the delusion that those theories are wrong
  • Evidence that shows that Guglinski is a crank.
  • Evidence that shows that Guglinski is a crank II
    • He thinks that super-symmetry particles have light masses so that the selectron (lower mass estimates of ~20 GeV) can provide ~2 MeV of mass in a neutron.
    • He thinks that there are 'replusive gravitons'. This of course requires the existence of negative mass and negative energy .
    • He creates 2 new forces of nature (attractive and replusive gravity) and arbitrarily puts their strength at almost that of EM. Why not the strong force? Why not the weak force? Why not any of an infinite other values?
Real scientists know that theses theories are correct because they match what the real world tells us.
